I've been with Houston Methodist now for almost 19 years. In 2006, I started as a unit secretary for the main hospital. A few months later, I was offered a full-time position as a unit secretary and worked in a few administrative clerical roles over the next four years. I decided I wanted to go back to school to pursue a career in human resources and I was able to use Houston Methodist benefits for tuition reimbursement where I earned my bachelor's in business and human resource management and master's in business.
My first HR job was at the west location. I started there when Houston Methodist West Hospital was about three years old. I was an HR coordinator and then, after a year I was promoted to HR specialist. Houston Methodist was acquiring the continuing care hospital during that time, and I was given the opportunity to be a part of a project team responsible for assisting many employees secure positions throughout system.
My first recruiting job was at Houston Methodist Sugar Land. I did that for a couple years before I moved into a senior generalist role at Houston Methodist Sugar Land. And then, in 2022, there was a senior generalist position open in the corporate division and I’ve been on this team ever since.
I was very fortunate to have worked under leaders that fostered my desire to grow. If you want to be in a particular position, there are so many resources to help you grow and develop. I've been fortunate to be able to tap into a lot of that throughout my career journey.
