Providing Exceptional Family-Centered Care in our Community since 1980.

About us

Hospice of Washington County, Inc. was established in 1980 for the sole purpose of lending support to those facing a terminal illness and their families. A core of caring citizens of Washington County, Maryland gathered to see how they could offer their time and talents to help share the burden of a serious illness for their neighbors. Over the past thirty years, Hospice of Washington County developed into a full service hospice with two doctors, registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, professional social workers and spiritual care providers in addition to our many dedicated volunteers. • On this Gold Star Spouses Day, Hospice of Washington County pays tribute to the husbands and wives of service members who died while serving our country. The tradition of a gold star as a symbol for those who made the ultimate sacrifice began during WWI; families of the fallen replaced the blue star service flag hanging in their window with a gold star. If you are interested in volunteering with HWC’s Vet-to-Vet program, contact us at (301) 791-6360 or volunteer@hospiceofwc.org.
