On this Gold Star Spouses Day, Hospice of Washington County pays tribute to the husbands and wives of service members who died while serving our country. The tradition of a gold star as a symbol for those who made the ultimate sacrifice began during WWI; families of the fallen replaced the blue star service flag hanging in their window with a gold star.
