🌟 Advancing Sight Restoration – A Look Back at a Major Milestone! 🌟 Last month, Massachusetts Eye and Ear successfully performed its first ocular surface stem cell transplantations (OSST)—a groundbreaking step in restoring vision for patients with severe ocular surface disease. This achievement, made possible through our collaboration with Dr. Thomas Dohlman, Dr. Jia Yin, Dr. Edward J. Holland, and Massachusetts Eye and Ear, marks the beginning of a new chapter in innovative eye care. Reflecting on this milestone, Dr. Dohlman shared: "We are very excited to have performed the first ocular surface stem cell transplantations at Mass. Eye and Ear this past month. It has been an incredible process partnering with Ed Holland and the team at the Holland Foundation for Sight Restoration to build this program at Mass. Eye and Ear – to see it go from an idea to actual practice helping our patients is amazing. We look forward to continuing to work with the Holland Foundation to bring this life-changing intervention to even more of the patients who need it most." We are incredibly proud of the progress made and look forward to expanding access to this life-changing treatment for even more patients in need. As our third established Center of Excellence, this milestone is a testament to the innovation and collaboration inspired by The Cincinnati Protocol.   Performed by Dr. Thomas Dohlman as the primary surgeon and Dr. Jia Yin, these groundbreaking procedures mark a pivotal moment in advancing sight restoration.   Dr. Edward J. Holland shared his confidence in the team, stating: "Dr. Dohlman and Dr. Yin did tremendously on their first OSST cases. We are heartbroken to share the passing of Pat Crowley, a founding board member of the Holland Foundation for Sight Restoration. Pat was not only a dedicated advocate for our mission but also a highly respected journalist in Northern Kentucky, known for his integrity, insight, and leadership in the field. Throughout his career, he earned the admiration of peers and the trust of his community, making significant contributions to journalism and public discourse. As a member of our board, Pat’s guidance and commitment helped shape the Foundation’s work, ensuring access to life-changing care for countless patients. His passion and vision will forever be part of our story. Pat’s kindness, commitment, and wisdom will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. His legacy will continue to inspire us all.
