A Beacon for Growth Chabot College serves a diverse student body, many students have full-time jobs, speak English as a secondary language, or come from low-income families. Whether first-generation students or lifelong learners, each student has unique educational needs and journeys. So, when Chabot College wanted to design a new Library and Learning Connection building, we proactively engaged students, faculty members, and other stakeholders to understand these journeys. Inspired by this outreach, we developed a design focused on visual clarity and transparency. The design thoughtfully intertwines academic resources, study, and social spaces to soothe stigma around seeking help. Chaffey College recently celebrated the grand reopening of their new aquatics center in Rancho Cucamonga, California. HMC Architects joined Chaffey College leaders, students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the new $14.2 million center. More than a world-class training and event facility for the school’s four swim and water polo teams, the new center increases capacity for community events and summer swim instruction programs. Used by both Chaffey College and the surrounding Rancho Cucamonga community, the pool is a home for local youth swim teams and a place for neighborhood children to take swim lessons. #HMCArchitects #DesignForGood #AquaticsCenter
