🌿 Paris se transforme… en capitale-jardin ! Un vent de fraîcheur souffle sur la ville : plus de nature, moins de béton, et surtout, une vision collective pour une capitale plus respirable. Lors du vote organisé par la Ville de Paris, les habitants ont choisi de réintroduire massivement la nature en ville. Résultat ? Des projets concrets à l’échelle des arrondissements, et une ville repensée pour ses habitants, par ses habitants. Petit tour d’horizon des grands changements à venir : ◾️Dans le 12e : création d’un nouveau parc urbain majeur, véritable poumon vert à l’Est de la capitale. ◾️ Dans le 10e : végétalisation du Canal Saint-Martin, pour en faire un lieu de fraîcheur, de biodiversité et de promenade douce. ◾️ Dans le 5e et 14e : aménagement de “rues-jardins”, avec plantations en pleine terre, ombrage naturel et sols perméables. ◾️ Dans le 18e et 19e : apparition de forêts urbaines, véritables îlots de nature pour reconnecter la ville à ses sols vivants. ◾️ Et dans le 16e et 20e : développement de cours d’écoles oasis, repensées comme des havres de biodiversité pour les plus jeunes. As bio-based materials and local supply chains become central to how we build, these 5 live or recently completed projects show a different path forward: building differently—with earth, stone, straw, wood… and collective intelligence. ◾️Rammed Earth House, Wiltshire By Tuckey Design Studio with Lehm Ton Erde A Passivhaus home made from unstabilised rammed earth, built on the footprint of a former brickworks. Carved benches, stairwells, long façades—all sculpted in site-won clay. ◾️Shugborough Visitor Centre, Stafford By Citizens Design Bureau for National Trust A curved welcome centre built with straw bale, sheep’s wool, and traditional lime pargetting, wrapping around ancient oaks and pushing boundaries in low-carbon architecture. ◾️Welfare Building – The Heathland School, Hounslow By Wellspring architecture A small building with a big heart: recycled tyre foundations, straw bale walls, green roof, and built with trainees from The School of Natural Building. A sensory space for extraordinary children. ◾️317 Finchley Road, London NW3 By GROUPWORK and Webb Yates Engineers A UK first: a fully loadbearing granite stone structure with no concrete or steel. Inspired more by stone cathedrals than steel-and-glass towers—80% less embodied carbon than the norm. ◾️Wolves Lane Horticulture Centre, Haringey By Studio Gil + Material Cultures with ORGANICLEA LIMITED, Black Rootz, The Ubele Initiative A community-led market garden with bio-based buildings, locally sourced straw and timber, and a construction process designed as an open classroom.
