Do you know which sport results in the most eye injuries in the U.S.? You might be surprised at the answer. According to Prevent Blindness, it’s basketball! Close to 30,000 sports-related eye injuries (all sports) are treated in U.S. emergency rooms every year. Many of them could have been prevented by wearing protective eye wear. April is Sports Eye Safety Month. Take the pledge to wear protective eyewear and encourage your teammates to do the same. Your vision matters. #SportsEyeSafetyMonth #EyeSafetyFirst #EyeProtection

Assessing Scleral Lens Fit in a Patient with Glaucoma Tube Shunt Using ANTERION Swept-Source OCT: A 68-year-old male with a history of glaucoma tube shunt implantation and severe corneal distortion post-radial keratotomy needed a scleral contact lens to achieve best correctable vision. To maximize health and safety with fitting, he was recommended for a molded scleral lens design and received anterior segment imaging with ANTERION, a swept-source OCT (1300nm wavelength). This technology enabled precise evaluation of tissue thickness over the tube pre-fit, and assessment of tissue compression over the landing zone post-fit. The combination of custom molded lens design and high-resolution imaging in this case reduces the risk of tube erosion and optimizes patient outcome. Image courtesy of Randy Charrier OD, FAAO, Dipl.
