About us
Hai Hospitality is a restaurant group based in Austin, Texas. Our restaurants include uchi, uchiko, uchibā, and LORO. We have restaurant locations in Austin, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Miami. We have a passion for creating food using the freshest ingredients in ways that defy expectations. We value culinary innovation with an approachable vibe. We strive to serve each and every guest with an attentive and knowledgeable staff. We have a passion for design and architecture that results in thoughtfully designed environments. Hai Hospitality was created in 2015 as a way to broaden the definition of who we are as a restaurant group, and to give each of the restaurants the space to create and cultivate their own identities. Hai Hospitality supports each restaurant in a variety of capacities so that each location has the freedom to grow while still being part of the bigger family—a family that has a common set of core values, a shared vision for food, service, and design, and a collective pool of knowledge and expertise that we can apply regardless of where we call home.

Uchiko Miami Beach is a poetic interpretation of Miami Beach’s spirit, blending tropical brutalism with the elegance of Japanese deco influences to create a space that feels like an escape, yet remains deeply rooted in its marina-side setting. It is a celebration of contrasts—raw and refined, bold and intimate, coastal and cosmopolitan—designed to transport guests to a world of beauty and wonder. Our design embraces hand-crafted elements and a palette of highly textured materials and celebrates the beauty of imperfection. This project was a partnership between Hai Design Studio and the visionaries from @islynstudio. As design soulmates of Hai Design Studio, Islyn Studio’s vision for a tropical brutalist design concept shaped the Uchiko experience in Sunset Harbour to feel truly connected to this special neighborhood. We couldn't be happier to see this vision come to life. 📸: @william.jess.laird #uchiko #uchikomiamibeach #interiordesign #hospitalityinteriordesign

Hai Hospitality reposted this
Tony Montero, CEO of Austin, Texas-based Hai Hospitality, ensures that in every market they expand to, they create a connection with each community through the "design of the exterior and interior as well as the menu and programming," he says. "Having each location be specifically tied to its market while maintaining the highest standard of quality and service does present ongoing challenges, but also opportunities and learnings that we can bring back to the group." Today we’re giving a shout out to Chef Whitney McMahan, Pastry Chef of Uchi Concepts for @haihospitality! Born in Maryland, Chef McMahan spent part of her childhood in Ecuador, which sparked her love for tropical flavors in desserts. Her culinary passion began early, baking holiday cookies with her mom and great-grandmother—a tradition that inspired her pastry career. Chef McMahan joined Uchiko Austin in 2018 as a party line cook, where she quickly moved up to pastry lead. After a brief stint away in 2020, she returned in 2022, and has been wowing us as Pastry Chef ever since. “My favorite thing about working at Hai is the emphasis on collaboration. I've had the opportunity to grow so much here, and there are so many people who have contributed to that. Creating is a labor of love, and in a company where so many people deeply love food, that labor is distributed across many.” Her favorite dessert to make? The pretzel tart at Uchiko Houston! 🥨 "Piping the top and creating those delicious layers is so rewarding. Plus, making a dessert that's a delicious version of pie always bring joy to my heart!" Three facts about Chef McMahan that don't involve food: she has an identical twin sister, she met her wife at Uchiko Austin (she was a sushi chef!), and is an avid reader—she read over 200 books last year, mostly sci-fi, fantasy, and post-apocalyptic fiction. Show Chef McMahan some love in the comments below!

Meet kurodai: the black sea bream. 🌊 This white fish stands out with its firm texture and rich taste, thanks to a diverse diet of crustaceans, fish, and seaweed. Sourced from the vibrant coasts of East Asia, from Hokkaido to Taiwan, this nigiri is both a staff and guest favorite—a must try next time you join us. #UchikoRestaurants

We'd like to formally apologize if you haven't had the absolute pleasure of having our gyutoro. This 72-hour wagyu short rib has been a staple across our restaurants for many reasons, but to sum it up: it's perfection. #UchikoRestaurants
