Getting to the Core Core processing involves the following steps: 1. Core Logging – This involves recording the different rock types encountered during drilling, while also noting zones of mineralization, alteration, veining, and geotechnical aspects of the core. 2. Rock Sampling – Using an angle grinder, a small slot is cut down the length of the core at set intervals. The powder generated from cutting these slots is collected in a test tube and then analysed with a handheld XRF for preliminary sample results. 3. Core Cutting – The core is split in half using a rock saw. One half is sent for lab analysis, while the other is kept on-site. Not just a pretty rock ! Malachite and azurite are minerals that contain copper, and they typically form when copper-rich ores like chalcopyrite are exposed to oxygen and water near the Earth's surface. When chalcopyrite, a copper-iron sulfide mineral, is oxidized, it breaks down and forms new minerals, such as malachite (a green mineral) and azurite (a blue mineral).
