Investors who focus on *dollars raised* or *patents filed* instead of technology built and systems solved are setting themselves up to miss the next Genentec and back the next hyped company. Why do so many investors fail at deep tech? Because they’re indexing on shallow indicators. Counting patent documents? Really? The number of patent documents is an inane way to assess a company’s IP position. 📄 A pile of filings doesn’t mean a single enforceable claim. You have to read the claims to understand what’s actually protected — and whether it’s likely to issue. It’s like judging a college applicant by how many schools they applied to — without reading a single application. The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) and SETI Institute announced their collaboration agreement as part of a long-term vision to further the development of AlUla Manara Observatory as a leading destination of the future, for space research, discovery and astro-tourism. As part of the agreement, the SETI Institute will facilitate installation of a Laser SETI instrument at AlUla Manara Observatory. LaserSETI, an optical SETI project, monitors the sky for laser flashes that could indicate the presence of non human made technology. The LaserSETI station would be part of a broader network scanning the entire northern hemisphere night sky from various locations. “Curiosity unites us all as humans, and science is a powerful way to bring people closer together from different geographies and cultural backgrounds.” said Bill Diamond.
