The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau is the official and accredited destination marketing organization for all of Wake County. The Bureau was formed in January 1992 by the Wake County Board of Commissioners and the Raleigh City Council, following legislation passed by the 1991 North Carolina General Assembly. It was formerly the Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, from September 1986 to January 1992, originally a department of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

President and CEO Dennis Edwards was joined by his colleagues Wit Tuttell (Visit North Carolina), Mike Butts (Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority) and Victoria Isley (Explore Asheville) for a day on Capitol Hill calling on North Carolina Senators and Representatives, such as Representatives Deborah Ross and Alma Adams, advocating for solutions to issues impacting travel in the U.S.
