    Think you have to wait until 7/1 to switch to an ICHRA? Think again. Mid-year implementations are part of what make Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements so popular among employers. Key things to know: 📅 An employer can implement a new ICHRA at any point during the year. 🛒 ICHRA eligibility creates a qualifying event for employees, including new hires, allowing them to enroll in an individual plan outside of the individual market’s annual open enrollment period. Employees then have 60 days to shop for and purchase qualifying individual coverage. 💡 Mid-year implementations create a shortened plan year to sync with the individual market calendar year. For example, an ICHRA that starts on 6/1 would continue through 12/31 and have a renewal plan year of 1/1-12/31. If you and your clients are considering a move to an ICHRA, Gravie can help.
