This #ImpactFriday, we're highlighting a fantastic intergenerational event organized by our Early Childhood program in partnership with CACF: Coalition for Asian American Children and Families. The Books, Bites, and Beats AAPI Festival welcomed families to celebrate different AAPI cultures. Participants enjoyed multicultural book giveaways, tasty bites, a lion dance, calligraphy and music from Mencius Society of the Arts, a Bilingual Birdies concert, and a hula performance from Hālau Hula O Nā Mele ‘Āina O Hawai‘i (and some young aspiring hula dancers!)

The New York State budget process is being finalized and we need your help. Social workers are vital to our community's health and well-being, but the social work sector is facing a crisis due to high student loan debt and low salaries, making it nearly impossible for them to pay off their student loans. This impacts their ability to stay in their careers and serve the community. You can make a difference. Support social workers by contacting the Higher Education Committees in the New York State Assembly and Senate and tell them you believe funding for social work student loan forgiveness needs to be increased. Afterschool programming at Grand Street serves thousands of students across New York City. Our programs provide a safe place for students to express themselves, build confidence in their schoolwork, and volunteer in their community. Join us as we call on our state officials to continue funding LEAPS (Learning and Enrichment After School Program) to ensure our children stay safe, engaged, and have the opportunities to meet their full potential. Shoutout to our incredible students from Lyons Community School, Juan Morel Campos School of the Arts, and Brooklyn Community Arts and Media High School for sharing their stories and advocating for the vital programs that allow them to learn and grow outside of the classroom. Tag your state representative below and tell them you support funding for afterschool!
