Empowering underserved girls 13-17 through travel and cultural exchange
About us
Girls Going Global was founded in 2012 with a mission to empower underserved girls ages 13-17 to become global citizens by providing the tools, mentorship, and educational experiences, to make their mark on the world. We strive to develop youth leaders for the global stage through dynamic global education and leadership development programs. GGG provides global education programming that focuses on civic engagement, global awareness, and leadership development. Recognizing different perspectives, communicating and defending ideas with respect and empathy, and accounting for the thoughts and opinions of others are the roots of effective leadership, collaboration, and peace building in our local and global communities. Girls explore such issues as global health, poverty, children's rights, sustainability, discrimination, and human rights. Field trips, guest speakers, mentoring, and hands-on service projects supplement the workshops. Our programs equips girls with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school and participate in shaping international and public policies in a complex 21st century world. The seeds of action—identifying a local, regional or global issue, researching questions about its causes and possible solutions, and taking responsibility for personal action in response—are sown; those seeds germinate everywhere in school, at home, and in community life.
