Throughout the week, Georgia Tech celebrated our incredible student employees in honor of National Student Employment Appreciation Week! We heard from several students who shared what their roles mean to them and how student employment has enriched their Georgia Tech experience. Hannah Koppel (slide 1) is an undergraduate assistant at the Office of Scholar Programs. She shares her love for her student job, which has allowed her to grow both academically and professionally. “I love being in a dynamic environment where I am able to interact with a wide array of impressive Georgia Tech students and faculty!” Hannah explains that, in addition to pursuing her degree, her student job has opened doors to external opportunities that have helped her sharpen her skills both in and beyond the classroom. Bhoomi Kotharkar (slide 2) shares her experience as an Residence Assistant for GT Housing. As an RA, Bhoomi acts as a student leader, facilitating team building events, providing campus resources, and ensuring a safe and positive environment. When asked what she enjoys most about her experience she exclaims that it is the sense of community and engagement that come with being an RA. “I often host random events like making slime, playing pickle ball, or even baking cookies for my residents!” Said Gomez (slide 3) is a student employee at the Georgia Tech Career Center. Working as a Co-op and Internship Student Ambassador, Said helps connect, inform, and encourage fellow students to seek out professional growth opportunities. He explains, “the best part of being a Georgia Tech student employee is the deep immersion into student life. I particularly value the chance to participate in events, join student organization meetings, and interact with people from various academic backgrounds.” Said goes on to explain that his time as a student employee has greatly enriched his undergraduate journey. Karina Osma Pérez (slide 4) is a student assistant for Georgia Tech Strategic Consulting. As a student assistant, Karina works behind-the-scenes, and says that she most enjoys the opportunity to help shape initiatives that prioritize student success and wellbeing. She states that “working with the Office of Cultivate Wellbeing Action and Transformation has allowed me understand the efforts that go into making Tech not just a top-tier academic institution, but also a place that cares deeply about its people.” Her advice to anyone considering a student role at Tech, is “don’t underestimate the impact you can have. You’re not just working a campus job—you’re helping build a better Tech.” Rooted in our value ‘Students are our Top Priority’, this week recognized the student employees who shape our campus today— and the leaders they’re becoming for tomorrow! #GTStudentsatWork #StudentEmployeeAppreciation #GeorgiaTechCareers #GeorgiaTech

Georgia Tech recently hosted the inaugural Long Service Dinner at the Biltmore Ballrooms. The evening honored the achievements and impact of employees who have served the Institute for 20 years or more, including one individual who has been part of the Georgia Tech community for 60 years. This event marked an important milestone in our refreshed Service Milestones program, recognizing the people whose longstanding commitment has helped shape the Institute across generations. Skye Duckett, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, shares that it is the “unwavering dedication that we’re able to fulfill our mission — to develop leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition. Your service, particularly in the last few years, has been invaluable.” We are proud to celebrate the individuals whose service has built not just careers, but a lasting community. At Georgia Tech, our nearly 10,000 student employees play a vital role in driving innovation, supporting campus operations, and fostering our vibrant community. April 14 begins National Student Employee Appreciation Week, when Georgia Tech joins colleges and universities across the country to celebrate the hardworking students who not only work diligently in class but also show their dedication as student employees. We are so grateful for their dedication and commitment to excellence and fulfilling Georgia Tech’s mission of progress and service. Prateeksha Gupta is a first-year, Business Administration major who works with the Employer Brand team in Georgia Tech Human Resources. Prateeksha said she applied because she wanted to play a meaningful role in supporting Georgia Tech’s campus community. “My experience working with the team has been incredibly positive. Everyone is so supportive and approachable, which makes it easy to ask questions and learn,” Gupta said. “They’re really understanding of our responsibilities as students and are always flexible with scheduling. I also appreciate how much they encourage creativity and give us the chance to share ideas and take creative control of specific projects.” Like so many other Georgia Tech student employees, her campus job has helped Prateeksha land a summer internship. Meet Daniel Murdoch, an Environmental Program Officer for Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). Daniel joined Georgia Tech last year and reflected on his time here thus far. When asked what makes him proud to work at Georgia Tech, Daniel insists that it is the people who continue to support him during his professional journey. “Our greatest currency are the people that work, learn, and instruct here at GT. It’s my privilege to serve as a colleague to some of the brightest minds on an international level.” Daniel continues, sharing that “serving as a source of knowledge within my field has helped solidify my desire to progress both professionally and personally." Daniel explains how this role requires a level of ethos that is derived from the Institutes core values: ‘We are responsible stewards.’ As an Environmental Program Officer, Daniel ensures compliance with regulations to protect the campus environment and upholds necessary safety protocols. “My role requires a degree of ethical consideration and GT's commitment to steadfast reporting practices has been evident since day one. In short, it's apparent that we all play a pivotal role in the larger picture.” Outside of work, Daniel is a proud new dad and loves spending time with family by creating homemade obstacle courses for his son. He enjoys going to the park and trying new restaurants. It is individuals like Daniel who push Georgia Tech to even greater heights of excellence. #FacesofGeorgiaTech #YouBelongAtTech #GeorgiaTechCareers
