The newly opened Hawks Pavilion at the Joslyn Museum in Omaha exemplifies this with a light-colored sculptural rainscreen embedded with vibrant pink aggregate that mirrors the rose-colored marble of the existing museum. In contrast to traditional marble, the rainscreen system is impressively lightweight, with most panels weighing under 200 lbs. Despite being thinner (5/8" thick) and lighter, the high-performance concrete system further enhances the pavilion’s resiliency and longevity, ensuring the Joslyn Museum, which is over 90 years old, continues to stand strong for future generations. March 25th marks the day that the National Medal of Honor Museum opened to the public. AIP projects is a very proud contributor to this mission to inspire by engineering & building several architectural features that make this incredible design by Rafael Viñoly Architects & schlaich bergermann partner sbp come to life. The monumental spiral stairs was engineered in collaboration with Barker Structural. The structure was prefabricated in the Netherlands, at the shipyards of Royal IHC. The highly anticipated new National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, TX, officially opens today! The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, TX stands as a noteworthy tribute to the Medal of Honor and its distinguished recipients. Designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects of New York and constructed by Linbeck Group LLC of Houston, this impressive facility spans 200 by 200 feet. It is elegantly supported by five 40-foot-tall precast columns, which not only provide essential structural support but also creatively represent the Medal of Honor in a star formation. Each column elegantly tapers from 12 feet 4 inches wide at the base to 5 feet across at the top and features a 2- by 3-foot door at its base to allow maintenance access. The Fred D. Thompson U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building, in Nashville, Tennessee, used a variety of precast concrete to achieve sustainability features. The precast concrete components of this building were designed to be blast resistant and prevent the possibility of collapse. The project team, including precast concrete producer GATE Precast, incorporated photocatalytic concrete on the white precast concrete façade. This special formula allows the concrete to be self-cleaning, therefore removing air pollutants from the atmosphere. The results of this structure, its resiliency, sustainability, and energy efficiency, have helped advance the capabilities of green building. This project also won two 2024 PCI Design Awards in the categories, Sustainable Design Award and Government & Public Building Honorable Mention.
