Our project team in De Soto, Kansas, proudly partnered with Friends of the Kaw and local organizations to remove over 250 tires and debris from the Kansas River. These tires were originally placed decades ago to reduce erosion and were washed into the river over time during floods. Garney partnered with Union County, NC, to deliver the County's first Progressive Design-Build project, the Yadkin Regional Water Supply Raw Water Infrastructure project. The scope included a new intake in Lake Tillery, a 45 MGD pump station with five vertical turbine pumps, 29 miles of large-diameter steel pipeline, a 300-foot micro-tunnel, railroad and river crossings, and rock excavation. By applying value engineering through the Progressive Design-Build process, Garney helped save $7.5 million in costs.
