The Georgia Chapter of PRIMA provides professional development opportunities for public sector risk managers in Georgia.

About us

The Georgia Chapter of the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) was established in 2004 to provide education, training and professional development opportunities for public sector risk management professionals in the State of Georgia. Our mission is to enhance the professional skills of our members through: 1) Quarterly meetings with topics and speakers directly related to the profession; 2) Our annual Educational Series is generally held in spring, an education-intensive multi-day seminar where members learn, network, and meet with private sector representatives from businesses offering services to the membership; 3) Networking opportunities throughout the year, allowing members to effectively share and exchange ideas and solutions with their colleagues. We work to further the best interests of governments, governmental agencies, intergovernmental risk pools, school districts and other special districts in their risk management activities.

The nomination included information about several steps the Authority has taken to enhance both internal safety and community safety including: enhanced and proactive safety patrols with increased scope and effectiveness, partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for enhanced water safety, and partnership with Henry County Public Safety to establish the Life Jacket Loner Stations at key locations around the reservoirs. Additionally, the Authority was commended for the education outreach to several local schools, reaching over 400 students to provide education regarding water safety, including knowledge and skills for identifying risks and maintaining safety around water. Nominated by fellow risk and insurance professionals from the organization, it was noted that Marie has instilled a strong risk management culture through the County’s many departments, particularly those departments that have responsibilities for observing and maintaining public operations. Marie was commended for developing and building a Risk Management Program for the County from the ground up and working closely with her LGRMS field rep in developing training, processes, and procedures to address and reduce claims and losses. Marie has been a valuable member to Georgia PRIMA for several years and currently serves on the Board of Directors and in the officer role of Chapter Secretary.
