How is FLY Dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline? Elevating Youth Voices at the CA State Capitol! The FLY Policy Team joined fellow advocates at the Capitol for Fix School Discipline Advocacy Day, meeting with the Senate and Assembly to push for restorative justice in schools. FLY youth and staff shared firsthand why punitive measures like suspensions and expulsions fail students and emphasized the need for systemic change. In total, over a dozen organizations and 60 FSD members met with more than 30 state legislators to advocate for dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline and fostering inclusive and supportive school climates for all youth. #california #education #youthjustice #sacramento #nonprofit

Last Month our Contra Costa County team hosted a beautiful and joyful #BlackHistoryMonth celebration! They came together in #community and enjoyed a soul food meal of shrimp and sausage gumbo, greens, mac & cheese, and peach cobbler, catered by our FLY alum Jeremiah Clark! Please consider supporting his business! https://lnkd.in/gP3dk7wa The office space was filled with artifacts from our homes and loved ones, including drums from Ghana, the Autobiography of W.E.B. Du Bois, and Amy Sherald’s American Sublime illustrated volume. In addition to great food and art, we vibed to the FLY Black Joy Music Playlist, https://lnkd.in/giRpb-Di enjoy 😉 watched the classic film Coach Carter, reflected together, and simply enjoyed each other's company. Shout out to the CCC Team and our FLY Talent team for such a meaningful event!
