The MIN3D dataset visualized using Foxglove. Developed by the 3DOM-FBK research group, the MIN3D dataset captures subterranean scenarios using a custom-built wheeled robotic platform. These environments are characterized by unstructured terrain, complex geometry, poor visibility, and constrained navigation. To tackle these challenges, the robot was outfitted with a rich suite of synchronized and calibrated sensors, including Basler stereo grayscale cameras, Intel RealSense RGB and depth sensors, a FLIR thermal infrared camera, Livox Horizon and actuated Velodyne VLP-16 LiDARs, and multiple IMUs (RealSense, Livox, and NGIMU). This comprehensive sensor fusion enables data-driven development across visual-inertial SLAM, lidar-based mapping, thermal-aware perception, and multimodal learning. Visualized in Foxglove, the dataset showcases tightly synchronized data streams—stereo imagery, RGB-D, dense and wide-FOV LiDAR point clouds, thermal imagery, and IMU data—allowing researchers to explore the full depth of sensor data in one unified platform. MIN3D is particularly well-suited for researchers and developers building resilient autonomy solutions in GPS-denied and sensor-degraded environments, offering a valuable benchmark for SLAM, mapping, and navigation systems under extreme conditions. This dataset is thanks to the contributions of Trybała, Paweł and Szrek, Jarosław and Remondino, Fabio and Kujawa, Paulina and Wodecki, Jacek and Blachowski, Jan and Zimroz, Radosław. Week 1 of AbuDhabi Autonomous Racing League testing complete. Can you guess how much data was produced? 50,000GB! Here’s what that looks like in raw storage terms: 50 terabytes 50,000 Gigabytes 50,000,000 Megabytes Each car logging every millisecond of motion, decision-making, and telemetry adds up fast. Fun fact: If we tried to store this on 3.5” floppy disks (1.44 MB each), we’d need about 34.7 million floppy disks (assuming you're old enough to know what a floppy disks is). If we stacked each floppy disk, the stack would be over 627 times taller than the Burj Khalifa, reaching a staggering 520km! Yes, we did the math. No, we’re not switching to floppy-based storage anytime soon, we'll stick with Amazon Web Services (AWS) thanks! What happens when high-octane racing meets cutting-edge robotics? Check out how a group of roboticists recreated RoboRacer and The Roboracer Foundation—the world’s first autonomous racing competition—as a sim racing league using AutoDRIVE Ecosystem, #ROS 2, and Foxglove. They’re not just building fast robots—they’re: • Pushing the boundaries of autonomy in high-speed environments • Leveraging simulation to experiment and iterate safely • Visualizing every twist and turn with powerful tools from Foxglove Whether you’re into sim racing, robotics, or just love a good tech story, this one’s a ride worth taking! Check out the full article in the comments 👇 A special thanks to Chinmay Samak, Tanmay Samak, and Dr. Venkat N. Krovi from the ARMLab CU-ICAR for helping put together this post.

I'm excited to tell you about my master's thesis research at Poznan University of Technology, which is about Perception Data Representation in Vehicle Teleoperation. I wanted to explore how different methods impact operator performance. In the video below, you can only see the early stages of what we want to achieve using Foxglove. Big thanks to Michał Nowicki and Maciej Krupka for their invaluable support.

Teaching robotics was one of the best things I started doing while working on industry projects. It’s not just about sharing knowledge - it’s taught me patience, clarity, and how to break down complex ideas into bite-sized lessons. I’ve learned that the real magic happens when students start asking ‘why’ and digging deeper, pushing me to refine my own understanding. One of the most important tools I rely on to understand what my robot is ‘Looking + thinking’ is Foxglove. its visualization and debugging capabilities are amazing for decoding robot behavior. #Robotics #STEMEducation #mobilerobots #Foxglove
