Last week, First Choice had the pleasure of hosting Mark Pilkinton and Jeremy Reynolds from TruGreen for a training session designed to update our team on the latest horticultural and lawn care practices. Here's a few of our favorite facts from the discussion: ☀️ Timing is key—The right kind of pre-emergent and fertilizer applications at the right time make a world of difference in their success rate. 🚜 Bermuda grass can be cut as short as half an inch without damaging rhizomes or making it susceptible to disease (much shorter than bluegrass, fescue, or zoysia) 🐛 Grub worms destroy your grass's root system when left untreated. 🌱 Young grass is sensitive, so recently seeded lawns receive less potent herbicide treatments until the lawn has been mowed 3-4 times. Our partnership with TruGreen allows us to offer top-tier turf management and enhancement services backed by their expertise and cutting-edge solutions. This collaboration enhances our ability to deliver exceptional results for clients nationwide, ensuring healthier, more vibrant landscapes! Every storm presents a unique challenge. Our home state and most of the Midwest rang in the New Year with a historic winter weather event. With it came a thick layer of ice, heavy snowfall, fierce winds, and frigid temps. Meanwhile, the public, our crews, and clients were faced with extremely dangerous conditions. It was a great reminder that nature doesn’t ask for permission or give you a fair warning—it just happens! But what stood out most was how our team tackled the challenge head-on. In real-time, we shifted gears to find innovative solutions that helped us not just survive, but thrive amidst the chaos. Whether it was coordinating logistics in extreme conditions, adjusting workflows on the fly, or leveraging resources to keep operations running smoothly, we were ready for whatever came our way. Our ability to adapt quickly and think outside the box kept us moving forward. And we moved mountains (of snow) to uphold the commitments we've made to our clients. It's never about being ready for the storm, but being prepared to face the unexpected.
