On March 28, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit central Myanmar, causing significant loss of life and extensive damage throughout the country. The impact was felt as far as 600 miles away in Bangkok, Thailand, where the quake triggered the collapse of a high-rise under construction. Thousands are injured and missing, and the full extent of damage and loss remains unknown due to crippled infrastructure and disruption to communication and electricity.
