Strike! Last week, FCG Consulting at UIC took over the lanes for an epic night out at the UIC Bowling Alley. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who could join us—it turns out we’re not just about case studies and case competitions but also about those strikes and spares! Hey FCG Members! The semester is off to an amazing start with some great events—here’s a quick recap and some pictures! On January 30th, we kicked off the semester with former McKinsey & Company partner, Andy Eichfeld. It was a great opportunity to hear about his career journey, including his time at McKinsey and his experience in Pakistan through the Watson Fellowship. Then, on February 5th, we held our first collaboration of the semester with Finance and Investment Group at UIC, featuring four consultants from Accenture. The session provided valuable insights into consulting as a career, including the differences between strategy and implementation consulting. On February 6th, we hosted our first case study workshop with EY where participants worked through a challenging case while also learning more about consulting opportunities at EY. Lastly, a quick reminder that applications for our Consulting Development Program close today at 11:59 PM—be sure to check our previous post for the application link. We’ll have two sessions: one from 2-3 PM in Douglas Hall 165 featuring a former McKinsey partner, and another from 5–6:15 PM in Douglas Hall 320, where we’ll talk about our Consulting Development Program and our Mentorship Program. This semester, we're excited to launch our new Consulting Development Program—a 10-week initiative aimed at boosting your professional skills through Zoom sessions. The program will cover key areas such as resume building, effective networking strategies for a consulting career, and live case preparation workshops. Here, we'll introduce the idea of frameworks and give you the opportunity to apply them in practice. The program will take place on Tuesday from February 11th to April 15th, with sessions scheduled every week from 6-7 PM CT. We will host 10 consecutive workshops, excluding the week of Spring Break.  At the end of the 10 weeks, you’ll have the chance to showcase your new skills in a case competition judged by experienced consultants. Additionally, participants will have opportunities to engage with firms like Plante Moran and Slalom through technical workshops and panels to learn more about consulting. This program is an excellent opportunity for anyone targeting a career in consulting or looking to enhance their professional development. It promises to be a valuable and memorable experience that can significantly benefit your career trajectory. We conduct interviews on a rolling basis and plan to select 15 to 25 student consultants this semester. Early applications are encouraged.  FCG Consulting at UIC will continue to hold our bi-weekly meetings on Thursdays. However, we're excited to expand our opportunities by launching this new program specifically designed for those interested in successfully navigating consulting recruitment. 📌Kicked off October with our annual Case Competition, hosted with our friends at Accenture!  🎉 This year, we had 7 strong teams compete in the first round, each delivering dynamic recommendations. A huge congratulations to our top 3 finalists and the winning team– The Strategic Slayers! 🏆👏 The finalists enjoyed an office tour of Accenture, where they presented their cases & gained valuable insights from industry leaders. 🌐👩💻 Thank you to everyone who participated & made this event such a great success. 📣We’re excited to announce that we plan to host similar case competitions in the future, so stay tuned!
