KGaA, one of the largest media companies in the world, to build, improve and evaluate a multi-agent RAG system across multiple domains. These domains span publishing, television, music and digital content across various tech stacks, making search across all of Bertelsmann's assets an incredibly complex technical challenge. LastMile AI collaborated with the Bertelsmann AI Hub to build a unified 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 that gives a single, final answer to users. Behind that simple answer, however, is a network of agents working across multiple data silos and formats. This system continuously evaluates itself, improving both its functionality and governance. ⚡⚡“The Growing Potential of Venture-backed Startups: Increasing Dealflow Between PE&VCs” ⚡⚡ Thank you so much to Zero One Hundred Conferences for hosting us at Zero One Hundred Europe in Amsterdam for a dynamic panel discussion on the evolving relationship between venture capital and private equity. Here some personal highlights: 👉 Venture Capital funds need more predictable exits. Private Equity needs stronger dealflow in asset-light, recession-proof growth industries. Working together both can create a positive dynamic for growing European software and deep tech companies from small to very large. 👉 Cultural differences between VC-backed and PE-backed businesses exist. The former focuses on growth, valuing the drive and creativity of strong founders. The latter focuses on profitability, valuing the discipline and process orientation of professional management. 👉 PE-firms have a lot of value to add to venture-backed businesses. They bring rigorous financial management and stronger process orientation to the table. They have deep pockets to finance add-on acquisitions. If VC and PE collaborate earlier in the life of the company, everyone benefits. 👉 Selling a VC-backed company successfully to private equity requires thorough preparation. The business must have transitioned from growth-at-all-cost towards a PE-style value creation playbook focused on moderate growth, EBIT-margin expansion and add-on acquisitions. 👉 Growth investors can build a bridge between the two worlds. They understand a high-growth environment and how to work with founders but also know what it takes to get ready for private equity. They can guide management through the transition. The day of the exit, they bring access to the relevant PE firms and experience in positioning and preparing for M&A.
