How regions are removing obstacles to cooperation? Regions face many barriers to cooperation: language, legal frameworks, and administrative challenges. But thanks to Interreg, they’re overcoming these by improving governance, strengthening institutions, and promoting coordinated actions. 🔹 Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic: CAP-SHARE bridges the gap between communities, scientists, and policymakers, promoting dialogue on environmental and climate challenges. 🔹 Interreg France-Suisse: The S.T.A.R.T. initiative is transforming isolated projects into strategic, integrated actions, enhancing transportation, culture, and tourism. In the Bavaria-Austria Border Region a strategic approach is tackling legal and administrative barriers, with cross-border mobility projects improving travel across the Tyrol-Upper Bavaria region, making transport smoother and more efficient. 🚆 These projects show how collaboration can solve shared challenges and improve citizens' lives 🌍💪 Read the complete article here: https://lnkd.in/dSYkVf3K #Interreg #CohesionPolicy

Physiological Pregnancy project has transformed maternal healthcare across the Italy-Slovenia border. 🤝 Through collaboration with Italian healthcare professionals, the project has: ✅ Enhanced patient care for women during pregnancy and childbirth ✅ Renovated maternity departments for better comfort & privacy ✅ Strengthened the role of midwives in providing personalized care By overcoming challenges like language barriers and different healthcare systems, this initiative has fostered long-term benefits for both regions. What’s next? Continued investment in maternity infrastructure and greater integration of healthcare systems across borders to ensure smoother access for expectant mothers. 🌾 From farm to fork, Estonia is cooking up a more secure and sustainable future 🇪🇪✨ The Interreg Baltic Sea Region project “Baltic Sea Food” brought together chefs, farmers and food lovers from 10 countries 🌍 to shorten the food supply chain and elevate Baltic cuisine. Local ingredients, proud traditions, and strong cooperation were at the heart of it 🍽️ Thanks to the Estonian Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture and the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce, over 800 local food producers and 4,000 SMEs joined forces to improve access to regional products 🙌 In Tartu County, science meets sustainability. Through the Interreg Europe project NICHE, local SMEs teamed up with researchers to create healthier foods 🍓-like the Helde grain porridges—backed by the University of Tartu and BioCC OÜ 🔬 Tartu’s food networks, inspired by cooperation with Greece and the UK, now connect 26 municipalities and host the annual South-Estonian Food Conference, bringing together 120+ local actors💡 Estonia’s food sector is stronger, more connected, and more future-ready thanks to Interreg! #Interreg #CohesionPolicy #FoodSecurity #InterregImpact #InterregEstonia

The European Commission has proposed adjustments to cohesion policy as part of its mid-term review for 2021-2027, aiming to better align EU investments with today’s strategic priorities. The proposal offers Member States the flexibility to reprogramme part of their cohesion funds towards areas such as competitiveness, decarbonisation, defence, affordable housing, and the energy transition - while maintaining the core objective of reducing disparities across Europe. New incentives include: 💶 Financial incentives for strategic priorities 🏭 Expanded ERDF support for large companies in key sectors 🛡️ Supporting defense and eastern border regions 🏘️ Increased funding for affordable housing and water resilience ⚡ Support for energy interconnectors and recharging infrastructure If adopted, the revised policy will enter into force in 2026, making cohesion policy more focused, responsive and effective in addressing Europe’s evolving challenges.
