This month, we are thrilled to highlight Emily Kresowik, our Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at EquiTrust. Since joining the company five and a half years ago, Emily has played a vital role in providing legal support across multiple teams, overseeing fraud and complaints, managing litigation and intellectual property, tracking legislation, and serving as the company’s Privacy Officer. With such a broad scope of responsibilities, every day presents new challenges—but Emily has embraced them with curiosity and determination. Over time, she has built strong relationships across the company, earning trust as both a legal advisor and a valued business partner. Throughout her time at EquiTrust, Emily has been part of several major milestones. She takes great pride in the company’s continued growth and the collaboration across teams to support that success. She was also instrumental in the launch of Bridge, EquiTrust’s LTC product, as well as the agent recontracting project and the re-introduction of the company’s Life product. These initiatives required coordination across multiple business units, and Emily played a key role in ensuring their success. Emily credits EquiTrust with providing the resources and opportunities that have helped her grow both personally and professionally. From leadership training through Tero to working with outside Legal and Tax experts, she has gained valuable knowledge to enhance her expertise. The company has also encouraged her involvement in industry organizations like NAFA, IALC, and NAIC, where she stays ahead of trends and legislation that may impact EquiTrust. Beyond these formal opportunities, she values the company’s culture of authentic leadership and work-life balance, which empowers her to seek guidance and support when needed. Outside of work, Emily is deeply committed to giving back to her community. She is an active volunteer with Des Moines Refugee Support, a nonprofit focused on removing barriers for refugees in the area. Her involvement began with small donations but grew into hands-on support, especially during the 2021 influx of Afghan refugees. She even took a crash course in immigration law to help families navigate asylum proceedings. Her passion for this cause is not only a source of personal fulfillment but also a powerful example for her children, teaching them the importance of generosity and empathy. Emily’s dedication, leadership, and passion make her an invaluable part of EquiTrust. We’re proud to recognize her contributions to both our company and the community. This month, we are excited to shine the spotlight on Greg Thompson , our Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at EquiTrust. Greg joined EquiTrust in May 2016 as the Head of Corporate Tax, bringing with him a wealth of experience in accounting and finance. By 2019, his exceptional contributions and leadership earned him the title of Chief Accounting Officer and Controller, where he now oversees critical financial operations and strategies. Greg’s time at EquiTrust has been marked by significant milestones. When he joined, the company was only a year removed from being acquired by MJE. He played a pivotal role in building processes from the ground up, including creating a financial reporting structure, enhancing Treasury operating capabilities, and designing financial and capital modeling platforms. For Greg, the opportunity to develop these processes and frameworks has been one of the most gratifying aspects of his career. EquiTrust’s dedication to employee development has also made a meaningful impact on Greg’s journey. “This company offers a host of training opportunities that companies I worked for in the past did not offer,” he shared. The comprehensive trainings provided by EquiTrust have not only strengthened Greg’s technical expertise but also enhanced his leadership capabilities, allowing him to grow alongside the organization. Beyond his work at EquiTrust, Greg is deeply committed to making a difference in his community. He served on the Chicago Bears Advisory Board, as well as the advisory board for the newly formed academic institution, Midwestern Career College. Additionally, Greg now devotes time to the nonprofit organization *One Goal*, which focuses on ensuring students have equitable opportunities to achieve their postsecondary aspirations. Mentoring and helping develop future leaders is a passion that extends into both his personal and professional life, bringing immense fulfillment to his role at EquiTrust.
