Last week, we had the privilege of showcasing #ePowerMove at the BRIDGE General Assembly in Brussels—our first public appearance! The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with other projects, gain insights into European Commission priorities, and engage with the Working Groups' latest results. Emin V. ALIYEV and Martina Ferrara Snider, from our project coordinator ERTICO - ITS Europe, represented our project and shared its mission. We were especially inspired by discussions with more advanced projects showcasing tangible outcomes. In recent years, the development of bidirectional charging, demand-side flexibility, and data-driven mobility has been progressed with amazing speed. But how do we bring all the pieces together? 🔹 Demand-Side Flexibility – How can transport and energy sectors collaborate for optimized energy use? 🔹 Data Spaces & Impact – These ecosystems will transform not just energy, but also transport, industry, and smart cities. 🔹 Data Ownership – EV-generated data belongs to the owner, but how will it be shared and utilized? 🔹 Data Exchange & Governance – Clear frameworks are needed for secure and efficient data flows. Really pleased that ERTICO projects, including ePowerMove, are contributing to this progress and change with other Bridge ecosystem projects! ePowerMove will soon be presented in an event for the very first time! Our project will be featured at the #BRIDGE General Assembly, a key coordination event where BRIDGE member projects collaborate to shape future activities and align with the European Commission’s policies. BRIDGE, an initiative of the European Commission, unites projects from Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, focusing on Smart Grids, Energy Storage, Digitalisation, Decarbonisation and other related topics to find solutions, share insights, and recommend actions to accelerate the energy transition. BRIDGE General Assembly will take place on 📅 25-26 March, providing a unique opportunity for networking, knowledge exchange, and synergy-building in line with the European Commission’s priorities. Accelerating Action for inclusive e-mobility 💜🔋 This International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to making EV charging accessible, inclusive, and equitable for all. At #ePowerMove, we go beyond technology—we ensure that the transition to sustainable mobility reflects the diverse needs of all users, regardless of gender, ability, or background. By co-designing with diverse community clusters, including individuals with special needs and occasional users, we are integrating gender perspectives into every stage of our research, aligning with the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025. From physical infrastructure to digital applications, we are working to remove barriers and ensure that e-mobility serves everyone, equally. "We would like to reach out to as many moms, dads, spouses, partners, occasional electric car users, and anyone thinking about purchasing an electric car as possible. Bidirectional charging has the power to transform both the transport and energy sectors, making EVs a key player in grid stability and energy cost reduction. However, as highlighted in the recent joint paper by ACEA, Chargeup, and smartEn Smart Energy Europe, 📑 "Shared Vision on Future Development of V2X in the European Union," regulatory barriers—such as double taxation, complex metering, and a lack of harmonised standards—are hindering its widespread adoption. At #ePowerMove, we are developing low-cost, smart, and interoperable bidirectional charging solutions that seamlessly integrate with the power grid. Our work ensures EV owners can actively participate in energy markets while keeping charging convenient and affordable. We’re thrilled to announce that #ePowerMove, a new EU-funded project under the 2Zero partnership, is officially up and running! 🚀 Launched on 1 January 2025, the project’s kick-off meeting, hosted by our coordinator ERTICO - ITS Europe, took place this week in Brussels. ⚡ 🔌 🍃 Our project will accelerate the EV transition with affordable, user-centric, and scalable slow-charging solutions seamlessly integrated with the grid. By focusing on innovation and scalability, we’re working to make publicly accessible, bidirectional EV charging a reality for citizens across Europe and beyond. Supported by a consortium of experts from research, academia, industry, and local authorities, ePowerMove combines cutting-edge technology with a deep understanding of diverse socio-cultural contexts. We’re excited to continue the vibrant collaboration sparked during this initial meeting over the next 3.5 years.
