  • Melanie Lewis began her career at Encompass Health in 1994 and was promoted to senior vice president and chief business development officer in 2021. Melanie admits that being a working woman can be challenging. Her advice: “I have found that sometimes work will need you more and sometimes home will need you more. You will know the difference!” Her recipe for success: - Be Intentional and aggressive about pursuing your goals. Are you working hard and waiting for your success to be recognized, or are you speaking up and presenting yourself as a leader? - Be self-aware and think about how you may be perceived by others. Perception is often reality. Explore how you are perceived by asking others you trust. Think about what you may need to change to better position yourself. - Don’t sell yourself short. No one is going to promote you better than you. Know your strengths and weaknesses and accept who you are, but don’t sell yourself short. - Engage a mentor. A mentor and/or a coach can help guide you; heed their advice.

  • What is Clinical Marketing at Encompass Health? Our clinical marketers utilize their experience as a licensed therapist, social worker or nurse and serve as the liaison between Encompass Health and our community providers, assessing a patient’s fit for rehabilitative care. We’re looking for individuals who are excited to go out into the community, meet with assisted living facilities, physicians, hospital emergency departments or urgent care facilities and share the unique ways Encompass Health supports patients in their recovery. Hear from Kelly Sorey and explore our clinical marketing roles: https://nuvi.me/gkacsk #ClinicalMarketing #WereHiring

  • Amanda came to Encompass Health unable to sit up on her own after a spinal cord injury. Amanda can now sit independently, follow her normal hygiene routine, and stand with assistance. As she headed home, Amanda shared, “I am going to walk back in here in 2025 to say thank you,” crediting her progress to the therapists and nurses who treated her with care and compassion. We can’t wait to see the incredible progress she continues to make!

  • Today is Diabetes Alert Day. Diabetes is a condition that can come with several complications. For Keith Stillinger, it was nerve damage. Keith was admitted to our Atlanta rehabilitation hospital with knee trouble and diabetic neuropathy, which was making it difficult for him to walk. "I was trapped. I needed a facility that could help me get back my ability to walk," he said. Thanks to rehabilitation and the intensive therapy he received at our hospital, Keith is standing again and getting back to what matters most.
