It was a great couple of days! Lovely to see all the future Regen/Agroecological farming leaders from Ireland and Scotland, England and Wales. Thanks for coming !
Last week, a few Em Genr’s were invited to a wonderful event at the Royal Agricultural University for Future Leaders in #Agroecology led by regen practitioners in the UK. Thank you to Pasture for Life FWAG Esmée Fairbairn Foundation FFC for enabling us to be there! The group started by imagining the farmer and farm of 2025 which was invigorating and thought provoking for everyone. They took a tour of the Zerodig #marketgarden with Jenny Phelps MBE and Christopher Upton. They saw the new polytunnel set up with remedial wood chip paths which allows fungal connections between the compost beds. Edward Bonn and Rachael Wheatley spoke about #composting and meso-fauna. They looked at Brix readings and gave microscope training so everyone could check out the #soil properties up close. Claire Whittle imparted her amazing knowledge of dung beetle #ecology. Jonathan Brunyee took the group through the contract farm agreement on the Bathurst estate. He explained the role of integrating #livestock into #arable systems and discussed the key principles of adaptive stewardship: #diversity, compounding, and disruption. Andy Rumming led discussions around profitability in #regen #farming. He took the group through principles of business planning, enterprise stacking, adding value, diversification plans and navigating partnerships with family members. The group were lucky to enjoy a closing dinner of Andy's beef at The Long Table Cirencester. Thanks all for a brilliant couple of days!
