Two weeks after an unforgettable eMerge Americas, the energy of what we experienced in Miami is still alive. Together with our FOOLFARM Move2USA program, we brought +10 Italian startups to what is quickly becoming the new global hub of innovation in the U.S.: Miami. A heartfelt thank you goes to Melissa Medina, CEO & Founder of eMerge Americas — a visionary leader and a constant source of inspiration for me and for all of us at FOOLFARM. Melissa strongly believed in FoolFarm and in our Italian Innovation environment, making it part of the latest edition of eMerge Americas. Still processing everything I experienced these past 15 days in Miami! 🤯 From back-to-back events to incredible conversations, this trip was pure growth. I had the chance to attend eMerge Americas, Innovation Tech Week, Israel Tech Week and Miami Tech Week, and over 15 other gatherings, all with one common thread: amazing people pushing boundaries. ➡️ Startup founders, VCs, and enterprise leaders — all chasing the same goal: seeking innovation, staying ahead of the curve, and using technology to build a better future💪. I met brilliant minds, heard inspiring stories, and witnessed firsthand how fast Miami is growing as a global innovation hub. 💫One thing that really stuck with me? How powerful communities can be and how valuable it is to help others while we build them. Whether it’s recommending a tech stack, connecting a founder with a VC, filling out a product feedback form, or simply listening to someone’s idea — it all matters. It reminded me that behind every logo or brand, there’s a real person. And that caring about what others are building is just as important as what we’re building💗. A huge thank you to GIGA IT for making this trip possible 🙌 Being part of a company that invests in staying close to trends (and the people behind them) is truly priceless. Founders, VCs, líderes de grandes empresas… todos con un objetivo claro: buscar innovación, estar un paso adelante y usar la tecnología para construir un futuro mejor 💪. Conocí personas brillantes, escuché historias súper inspiradoras y vi con mis propios ojos cómo Miami se está consolidando como un hub de innovación a nivel global. ¿Algo que me quedó resonando? USTAAR to eMerge Americas: A Story of Innovation and Mentorship What began as a bold idea at the University of Miami has just become a defining moment for South Florida’s startup scene. SmArT, founded by Ph.D. student Shruti Choudhary and supported early on through the USTAAR accelerator (led by Dr. Suhrud Rajguru and powered by the Alvarez Family Fund), has just won the #eMergeAmericas 2025 Startup Showcase — earning a $125,000 investment prize from #MedinaVentures and #BigCapital As mentors at The Venture Mentoring Team, we’ve had the privilege of guiding Shruti and her team every step of the way—from her win last year at the University of Miami’s USTAAR accelerator to securing the top spot on the eMerge main stage. With dedicated mentorship from Lead Mentor Benito Varela along with Charles Reese, Chirag Patel, Chris Juhl, Leandro Finol, Martin Svozil, Tali Rosman, and others in our multi-mentor model, SmArT rose from:  ✅ USTAAR Champion ✅ Top 100 at eMerge ✅ Top 25 ✅ Final 5 🏆 To Winner of the entire competition! At the center of that journey was VMT lead mentor Benito Varela, CEO of GroNatural, who worked closely with Shruti from pitch to performance. The VMT’s belief in SmArT’s mission and strategic support helped guide Shruti through every stage of competition—from USTAAR champs to eMerge winners! “Working with founders like Shruti is what VMT is all about,” Benito shared. “When students are surrounded by the right support system—academic, entrepreneurial, and community-driven—anything is possible.” Shruti echoes this impact:  “VMT has definitely become the startup mentor family of SmArT. Last week, I had the chance to attend the eMerge conference, and I was genuinely amazed by the incredible innovations coming to life, especially from young entrepreneurs in the medical field. It’s exciting to see how fast ideas are transforming into real-world solutions that can impact lives. It reminded me why we’re building Together Trials. Our goal is to bring Together to life as a platform that supports science, empowers researchers, physicians, and medical students to think outside the box, and use AI to make smarter decisions in their professional journey. The healthcare industry is changing at an unprecedented pace, and improving our technical skills is no longer optional; it’s essential! Representing Peru at eMerge Americas was one of the most transformative experiences of my life! 🇵🇪🌍 On March 27th, I had the honor of participating in the Social Ideas Challenge, organized by the Hemispheric University Cons where I proudly represented Peru and Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia at eMerge Americas—the largest innovation and tech conference in the southern United States 🚀. I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity to pitch Soildier alongside my co-founders, after several intense nights of preparation and hard work to showcase our vision on an international stage ✨. The competition was incredibly tough, featuring powerful biotech, fintech, and edtech solutions with real social impact from across Latin America and the U.S. At the opening, Dean Paul A. Pavlou from the University of Miami Herbert Business School reminded us that “we were all winners” for bringing forward the entrepreneurial and social potential of our countries 🌱. Some standout projects from this year’s edition included: Humos de la Patagonia (Chile): eco-friendly firewood from deadwood 🌲 Care Tales (USA): personalized storytelling platform for pediatric care 📖 Alaya (Ecuador): empowering menstrual health for girls with no digital access 💠 Localis (Costa Rica): a marketplace bridging inequalities for local entrepreneurs 3R Videogame (Dominican Republic): immersive VR game teaching kids to reduce, reuse, recycle ♻️ Fungiopopre (Chile): biotech solution for urban green spaces using minimal water 🍄 Though we didn’t take home the final prize, Soildier proudly showcased Peru’s biotech potential, proving that science can be a key driver for social innovation. Our pitch was among the most highly rated, and we return home with renewed purpose and motivation. Endless thanks to all the institutions that made our participation possible, and to the HUC for creating such a powerful platform to amplify Latin American talent and social impact on a global stage 🌍✨.
