In response to God’s Word, we embrace and nurture vulnerable children and families by providing homes, healing and hope.

About us

Since 1890, we’ve stood in the gap for the most vulnerable of children. We provide homes, healing and hope to children needing a safe haven from neglect, abuse or abandonment. While children are our first priority, in many cases we also work with their biological families to address harmful behavior that has either broken them or could break them apart. While our programs are diverse, they all share a single focus of ensuring vulnerable children are able to grow up in a safe, loving home.

  • In many cases, foster care is not forever. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, about three in five children in foster care return home to their parents or other family members. We understand that family is the most fundamental influence on children. Our guiding philosophy is that it is usually best for children to be able to stay with their own families and for families to learn how to handle their own challenges in a healthy, loving way. At Embrace AL Kids, we are proud to offer our Family Preservation Program, designed to strengthen and preserve families. While it is not a cure for the struggles of family life, it is a successful program that teaches, challenges and helps families learn the skills they need to stay together and help each other grow successfully. • We are grateful for the Children's Trust Fund of Alabama and the support they provide to the children and families we serve across the state. We were honored to attend their check presentation earlier this week with fellow organizations and legislators in Alabama. We look forward to continuing our partnership and providing homes, healing and hope together. #EmbraceALKids

  • We are overwhelmed with gratitude to all those who have supported our Embrace Christmas campaign and allowed us the opportunity to provide homes, healing and hope to vulnerable children and families during the holiday season and beyond! Thank you for your continued support and happy holidays!

  • Christmas is the most joyful time of year, and we're so grateful for the incredible support churches show us annually! Our Embrace Christmas campaign is the foundation for the support we raise to fulfill our mission statement: In response to God’s Word, we embrace and nurture vulnerable children and families by providing homes, healing and hope. With Advent and Christmas planning around the corner for many churches, we want you to be on the lookout for a shipment of materials to arrive before Thanksgiving. Please also visit our website, embracechristmas.org, to find Embrace Christmas resources that will share stories of hope and our ministry's message. We wish you all a blessed holiday season! #EmbraceALKids #EmbraceChristmas

  • "More than 75 people, including community supporters, University of North Alabama officials, Florence city officials, and current and former UNA students recently celebrated the construction of Embrace Alabama Kids’ Higher Education Home at UNA. “This is a collective dream that we’re realizing today,” UNA President Dr. Ken Kitts said. “As Embrace Alabama Kids’ partner in this venture, UNA is well-positioned to deliver an extraordinary educational experience for the students who come to us through this Embrace Higher Ed Program." We're excited for the opportunity to double the number of students we can serve through our Higher Ed program in Florence, and we're grateful for our supporters and partners who are making this dream come true. • This week we celebrated our new Higher Education Home on the University of North Alabama (UNA) campus in Florence with a “Gathering for Good” community event featuring food, live music and great company. We were thrilled to welcome 75+ attendees including community leaders, civic officials and our network of supporters to share remarks and commemorate this special occasion for the UNA and North Alabama community. A big thank you to our wonderful partners at UNA, the support of the Anderson family, and everyone who helped make this event possible and who joined us in celebration! #EmbraceALKids
