Without a clear estate plan, the burden often falls on the people you love most. This is your reminder: Estate planning isn’t just about assets. It’s about easing the pressure on your family—when they need it most. Check out our latest blog post to learn more. It's linked in the comments. Happy National Pet Day from your four-legged coworkers at EBFLG! 🐶🐱 They may not know much about residential schedules or estate plans, but they’re experts in snuggles, support, and making Zoom calls a little more chaotic (and cute). Whether they’re lounging under desks or popping into client calls, our pets bring joy and calm during some of life’s most stressful moments. Thank you to the companions who never let us forget to take a walk, a breath, or a break. 💛 Drop a pic of your fur baby with us, we’d love to meet your favorite coworkers too! 🐾✨ #NationalPetDay #FurBabyFriday #EBFLG #OfficePets #LegalBeagles #FamilyLawWithHeart #SeattlePets

Divorce is never easy, and it’s likely not what you imagined when you first said "I do." But now that you're facing this difficult chapter, it’s important to take control of the situation. Preparing yourself before you pick up the phone to call an attorney can make a world of difference. Getting organized and knowing what you're up against is essential for moving forward with confidence. Before hiring a family law attorney, make sure you’re prepared with these 6 essential steps: 1️⃣ Set clear goals for your divorce—personal, financial, and emotional. 2️⃣ Get organized—keep track of documents, expenses, and thoughts. 3️⃣ Do your research—understand the laws and customs in your state. 4️⃣ Develop a financial plan—know your budget, future expenses, and financial responsibilities. 5️⃣ Review your estate plan—ensure your decisions reflect your current situation. 6️⃣ Trust your instincts—listen to advice but follow what’s best for your unique situation. The more prepared you are, the smoother the process will be. Visit our website to learn more or send us a direct message. We are happy to help you through this. #divorce #familylaw #familylawyer #divorcelawyer #seattle #lawoffice

My latest Psychology Today article.
Seattle family law attorney (Fair Play Facilitator), Mom/Step-Mom of 6 - Transforming families through divorce, estate planning and pre-nuptials. Leadership, data, marketing, law firm consulting are my other passions.
Divorce has been ranked as the second most stressful life event an adult can experience — just behind the death of a loved one. While it may not meet the APA’s official criteria for PTSD, the emotional toll can feel just as heavy. The psychological impact often affects not only the couple but their children, too. In my latest Psychology Today article, I discuss how the emotional fallout from divorce can mirror trauma responses — like anxiety, sleep disruption, and emotional numbness — and why it's so important to acknowledge these effects. I also explore how divorce-related trauma and PTSD can affect a divorce case and strategies for healing. It's important to note that trauma doesn’t come in just one form — it can stem from many different experiences. And with April being Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, I hope you'll take a moment to reflect on how we respond to trauma in ourselves and others. Whether it's the aftermath of divorce, abuse, or other painful events, recognizing the signs and offering compassion is so valuable since healing often begins when someone feels seen, heard, and supported. #SeattleDivorce #SeattleFamilyLaw #DivorceRecovery #PTSDandDivorce #DivorceSupport #PsychologyToday
