Utilities don’t compete. They cooperate. That’s the magic of this industry. When a utility needs storm response support, other utilities often provide the necessary assistance while ensuring regulatory compliance. And given the mammoth undertaking this can be, technology often helps. Using data-driven forecast models powered by E Source, Pacific Gas and Electric Company was able to send 300 workers to aid in Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in Georgia and Florida last year without impacting its own operations. Tune in to Edison Electric Institute's Electric Perspectives podcast episode, Data-Driven Approaches for Effective Storm Responses with Kyle Decker (E Source), Angie Gibson (PG&E), and Shane Powell, PE (Southern Company), to learn more about the critical role forecast models play in mutual assistance efforts.
