Please join us in congratulating Carolina Avila, aPHR, Molly Pfeifer, and Samuel Allen on their well-deserved promotions! Their hard work and commitment to excellence continue to make a positive impact. Learn more about their journeys below! Carolina joined three years ago as an HR Generalist, later stepping into a supervisor role leading our benefits and HRIS programs. She’s now been promoted to HR Manager, supporting employee relations. In December 2024, she was named Leader of the Quarter for her empathetic leadership, business acumen, and daily impact. Molly started as a temp and quickly became our HR Coordinator. Her dedication and connection with both staff and new hires, paired with her prior recruiting experience, led to her promotion to Recruitment Manager. She was named EBC's Best in Q1 of 2024 for exemplifying our core value of Building Enduring Relationships. Sam joined part-time in Reception during summer 2023, quickly making an impact. By August 2024, he transitioned to a sub Assistant Club Manager role while still supporting Reception. His dedication to growth led him to intern as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at a local gym. This combination of experience and commitment resulted in his promotion to Assistant Club Manager, where he’s already driving positive change within the team. Meet Jada Stroud! Jada is the newest member of EBC’s Club Management Team as one of our Assistant Club Managers. She is a proud Chicagoan, with deep roots in the southside. It’s there that she developed a love for jazz music, southern cooking, and community volunteer work. Jada went on to attend Lincoln Park High School before heading to Peoria to pursue her degree in Mathematics at Bradley University, where she also minored in music performance on Jazz Bass. When she's not on shift, you’ll probably find her playing bass, working on her dirt bike, or learning French! Interested in working alongside Jada and the EBC Operations team? Huge thanks to Jenny Finkel and our DIB Council for bringing in S. Dilla Thomas to share his incredible knowledge of Chicago! It was fascinating to hear about everything from the city's origins to the stories behind its street and neighborhood names, plus all the amazing things that started right here. Chicago’s history is so rich, and this was such a cool way to experience it! Shoutout to Mel Kleist for going above and beyond to create a wow experience for Dilla! After Dilla shared a funny story about his kids stealing his leftover chicken wings, Mel surprised him before he left the Club with a fresh order of EBC chicken wings to take home. It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of East Bank Club’s founder, Daniel E. Levin. For more than 40 years, Dan provided the vision and leadership that made our Club what it is today. EBC was Dan’s passion, and Dan was our heart and soul. In 1973, Dan obtained an option to purchase a 142,000-square-foot parcel of land on the east bank of the north branch of the Chicago River – the plot where EBC now stands. He applied for financing with the Illinois Housing Development Authority, but was turned down. There was skepticism at the time that people would want to live in the River North neighborhood, an area that was once a railroad turnaround with barns and sheds, and was suffering from disinvestment. Dan had a vision for the neighborhood that was much different. And so he set his sights on building a health club. His concept was to construct a facility unlike any other club in the country – something large enough to offer an incredible array of activities and services and provide the feeling of a country club, and more, within the city. “We wanted to create something,” Dan said in 2000, “that would offer the best in equipment and amenities, but also provide a gracious social environment. Our hope was that the Club would become a place that was meaningful in people’s lives, and that we would be able to set the highest possible standard in terms of the facility, personnel, equipment, amenities, programs, and services.” Dan was modest about his success. He once said he hoped to be “remembered as a good man, who, in a variety of ways, helped make the world a little better place.” There is no doubt that he did, and much more. Dan’s vision is our guiding light, and he will continue to live on through the EBC experience that he created. For more about Dan’s incredible life, Crain’s Chicago published a piece on Sunday: https://lnkd.in/ghjrRCrS
