Somalia's susceptibility to climate-induced calamities, like droughts and floods, results in extensive destruction and the permanent displacement of agro-pastoral communities in impacted regions. A poignant illustration of this situation is a family - a known family - who, after losing a child to dehydration due to water scarcity one week, have lost loss another and an elderly member of them to flash floods coupled with heavy rains the next. Dear Ambassadors, Professors, Government Officials, distinguished guests, ladies, and gentlemen; Thank you for attending the conference hosted by East African institute for Peace and Governance in collaboration with the Department of Diplomacy and International Studies of Nairobi University.
