Today is World Art Day, a perfect day to shine a spotlight on the art classes and contests organized by Duo Duo Project in dog-eating cities. The “models” for these events are dogs who have been rescued from slaughterhouses. Each event is a chance to transform young hearts and minds, helping children see dogs and cats as family members, not food. Dog fighting is illegal in all 50 states, but this horrific blood sport is still happening in the US, which is why we still need the National Dog Fighting Awareness Day. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma unsealed documents 2 weeks ago that revealed former NFL player LeShon Johnson was charged with allegedly operating a very large dogfighting venture. 190 "pit bull-type dogs" were seized from him — the most even taken from one person in a federal dogfighting investigation, according to the Department of Justice. The founder of Happy Cat Sanctuary died in a fire after running back inside to save more animals. Friends say Chris Arsenault poured everything he had into the Happy Cat Sanctuary on Long Island. A pro-dog ad recently appeared in major Guangzhou subway stations. Guangzhou, China, used to be one of the dog- and cat-eating capitals of the world. The ad says : “Don’t call me dumb mixed breed dog. I am as smart as a  purebred dog.” Dog-eaters often justify their behavior by saying that they only eat local dogs because they are "dumb." They don’t eat Golden Retrievers, Labradors, etc. It is so exciting to see this big, expensive ad campaign encouraging compassion towards dogs!
