Doyon Utilities, LLC is the owner and operator of Alaska's sole Landfill Gas Plant (LFG), which generates electricity for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The LFG Plant supplies energy to the installation while also decreasing greenhouse gas emissions! Located adjacent to the Anchorage landfill, DU's LFG plant harnesses naturally produced methane from the waste deposited in the landfill to power generators that can fulfill almost all JBER-Richardson's summer needs and around 70% of the power requirements in winter. Last year, the LFG plant provided 60% of JBER Richardson's power, resulting in a reduction of 19,886 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to 517,879 barrels of oil.

Jubal is one of our critical power plant mechanics at Fort Wainwright! His main responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, repairing breakdowns, and handling emergency work. Initially hired as a temporary employee over 8 years ago, Jubal quickly developed a liking for the diverse range of tasks in his role. He appreciates the daily interaction with his crew and finds the ever-changing nature of the job, which involves, “…welding, brick work and mechanic work…a little more fun than the same thing over and over.”
