Expo 2025 has opened its doors to the world, welcoming over 119,000 visitors on its first day — a powerful beginning to a global celebration of ideas, imagination and cultural expression. D+DX, the immersive arm of Done + Dusted, are incredibly proud to be working alongside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture to produce a rich and diverse programme of residencies and immersive shows spanning the six months of Expo for the KSA Pavilion in collaboration with our friends and partners at 59 Studio and Wonderjunkie. Opening the programme, celebrated artist Muhannad Shono has taken up residency in the Visual Arts Studio, presenting his acclaimed work alongside the live creation of a new piece — crafted for Expo attendees to observe in real time. In the Music Studio, attendees are invited to watch indie/electronic artist fulana perform live and collaborate with local Japanese musicians to produce a new track. At the heart of the Pavilion stands The Courtyard. It was an incredible night packed with hilarious surprises - from Mark Twain impersonators to a live Hot Ones segment with Stephen Colbert and Sean Evans, the night had everything. 📺 The show featured appearances by comedy greats like David Letterman, Will Ferrell, John Mulaney, Sarah Silverman, Tracy Morgan, Adam Sandler, Nikki Glaser, Kumail Nanjiani, Bill Burr and more—all honoring a legend who’s shaped the landscape of modern comedy. Throwing it back to MTV’s X-Ray Vision: Live from Hamburg (1996)—aka the night EVERYTHING went off the rails 🤯 Not only was this one for the history books, but it was also the FIRST SHOW Hamish ever directed! Talk about getting started with a bang... What started as a fun evening of music quickly spiraled when the crowd turned on host Ray Cokes, forcing the show to end early. Between the insane mob energy, things being thrown on stage, and total MTV-style mayhem, it was a trial by fire for Hamish’s directorial debut. Who remembers this legendary disaster?
