Got to spend time with the 47G family, Max Stitzer, David Monson, and the Mighty Becky Guertler (Bex) from the Utah Veteran Business Resource Center. We are so grateful for your support, guidance, and mentorship. We hope you all are as excited about the new year as we are!

Asset inventory is woefully undervalued. “It is a fundamental truth that you can’t protect what you don’t know you have. Likewise, you can’t find vulnerabilities in systems that you don’t know you have.”( https://lnkd.in/g4MKG8Nr)

Recently, I was the recipient of a phishing “attempt”, small “a”. That got me thinking of what ramifications do these people get and why the trees at all my local golf courses seem to be of “Middle Earth” variety and reach out and grab my golf ball mid flight and send it to the rough on the other side of the fairway next door. Now this attempt will ultimately end up going nowhere in all probability. I don’t peruse adult websites as it stated so I am not concerned. The gist of it was that they saw me peruse these sites and they had malware on these sites and caught me looking, or so they say. They proceeded to tell me that if I don’t comply, they will email my contacts, I don’t keep email contacts, all the sites I had looked at. Then made, what seems to me, threats as to what they would do if I don’t comply because they know where I live. As a veteran, unfortunately, I am used to my personal information being given and taken by unknown people/entities. While going through the process of contacting local authorities, federal authorities, and my email provider, changing all my passwords, disconnecting from the internet and running scans on all my systems, I was told that unless I sent the the money this isn’t a crime. But if this were to happen via snail mail it would be. Why isn’t a threat via email treated the same as a physically mailed letter? Why don't IT companies have a "secure my crap" button? Topic for another day. Government, be it city, county, state or federal, doesn’t currently have the laws to deter these events. Nor do they seem to truly want them. Does congress want to require companies to lock down its data, software and hardware or God forbid GDPR? No. Think demographic info. Most importantly, companies don’t want to lose that extra revenue stream by selling your data. What about the insurance industry, do you think they are on your side? I have my doubts, since they provide Cyber Security insurance. The insurance industry nets $1.4 trillion as of 2021, or 3.1% of the US GDP from only 5,929 companies. Guess what the “cyber criminal industry” is currently worth? $1.5 trillion. Food for the conspiracy theorists out there. For my case, CMMC is a much-needed start to what is increasingly more of a problem evidenced by Ivanti, SolarWinds, RTX (Company behind F22,F35, B2 leak), or probably my issue the National Public Data breach. If these companies are being breached or just inherently not secure, then what confidence do you have in yourself, local municipality, state or businesses you frequent? There are many tools you can use to help make yourself secure out there. But should you have to go looking for it? And, how many of you think your parents or grandparents could even begin to figure that out? I don't like bringing issues without a solutions so #DTA can help but not with "Middle Earth" trees next to the fairways.

that's our Boy!🤓😁🤓😁
Why is cyber security crucial? With recent breaches via Office 365 at the State Department, F-22/F-35 programs or the CrowdStrike incident, all highlight failures at various stages of the compliance process. Cyber security isn't supposed to be easy. "You need to be right everywhere every time, your adversary only needs to be right once."
