A hopeful reminder at a tough time: no matter how small they feel, your acts of service still matter. Last Monday, the Federal Government terminated $100M of funding for MA schools - almost half of it for #Springfield. At times like this, it’s easy to think you can’t do enough to make a difference. But you CAN. Since January, we’ve been working with Catie's Closet, Inc to give free menstrual care to 230 students in Springfield. We wanted to do this for years, and we’re REALLY proud to do it now. But we glossed over it in conversation with a supporter, because it feels like a drop in the bucket given what these students are facing. She stopped us, and encouraged us to celebrate what we CAN do, instead of lamenting what we can’t do (yet). So no, we can’t replace that budget, or fix everything... but we can give 230 students in Springfield (and thousands of others across the state) the menstrual care they need to learn. Even when it feels like there’s SO MUCH we can’t do, what we CAN do matters more, and we need to keep doing it. Thank you for helping us do what we can! #dignitymatters #philanthropy #fundraising #togetherwecandomore #endperiodpoverty

Providing free period protection, underwear and bras to women and girls in need
About us
Dignity Matters is a non-profit organization that supplies female hygiene products and undergarments to women who are in need or who are homeless, in order to help them stay healthy, regain self-confidence, and live with basic dignity. Dignity Matters is based in Wayland, Massachusetts and oversees operations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In almost every community in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, there are women who cannot afford a bra, or may not even own one. Most of the homelessness women also face the humiliating reality of no access to tampons or pads. These challenges comes from the fact that feminine hygiene products and bras are very rarely donated to charities, food stamps do not cover them, asking strangers for female sanitary products can be humiliating, and most homeless shelters, in spite their best efforts, simply cannot cope with the demand. It leaves homeless, and critically poor women alone – in what amounts to a monthly crisis. In a short term, Dignity Matters assist those women by providing items they need the most. Our long term vision is a world where basic sanitary products are available in all public toilets, free of charge, just like toilet paper is (and, incidentally, for similar health and cleanliness reasons). Accomplishing this would bring us a big step closer to achieving true gender equality, which is imperative for a fair and sustainable world where everyone, of any gender, can thrive.

Thank you CREW Boston and your members for your continued help and support!
It’s amazing what can be accomplished when a group of women come together to support other women! Last week, CREW Boston hosted our annual “Making Connections in 2025,” honoring our legacy members and welcoming our new members. While networking and enjoying some light snacks, attendees assembled over 500 menstrual care kits for Dignity Matters, Inc. Special thanks to Meryl Glassman for educating us on this wonderful organization and to Steelcase for being such a hospitable and accommodating host!
