DEWESoft, the next evolution in data acquisition instrumentation, offers a full suite of hardware for in-vehicle and lab data acquisition applications. Scalable from four to thousands of channels, our instruments are available as small USB/EtherCat devices, stand-alone battery-powered systems, or rack-mounted configurations. And all of the DEWESoft equipment can be synchronized together to form systems that can be synchronized together to get tests of thousands of channels with 24-bit A/D and up to 200 kilosamples per second. Powered by our DEWESoft X software, we acquire and control many multi-domain test sets that may include analog in/out, digital in/out, video, CAN, OBD2, FlexRay, XCP, GPS, and much more. DEWESoft is designed to handle a variety of applications such as: ride handling, brake testing, durability testing, road load, E-mobility, power quality, combustion analysis, pass-by-noise, NVH testing, order tracking, torsional vibration, balancing, real-time kinematics, ACC, ISO lane change, and more. #TestingTuesday Dion Cox is an electronics engineer at the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC). He is the Lead Instrumentation Engineer for the Propulsion Division in the Missiles and Sensors Test Directorate at RTC. In his current role, he has used his experience to identify a critical need for modernization and standardization across RTC's test ranges, specifically in data acquisition systems. Dion spearheaded the transition of the Propulsion Division to the DEWESoft data acquisition system, which had already been successfully utilized in the Energetics Division and other RTC directorates. Before this transition, the division relied on two separate devices, a signal conditioner and data recorder. The DEWESoft system combines both functions into one, simplifying setup, reducing electromagnetic interference, and cutting setup time by 50 percent or more. The modular and ruggedized nature of DEWESoft allows it to be tailored for specific tests, used in various testing environments, and shared across directorates, increasing flexibility and accommodating higher channel counts. This change has saved the Propulsion Division more than $25,000 annually in calibration costs and reduced equipment downtime. As a result of these improvements, the Propulsion Division is now able to conduct tests across multiple test stands, capturing data from numerous channels. Dion’s expertise and the capabilities of DEWESoft are pivotal in the upcoming Next Generation Interceptor test, which will feature the largest static motor firing and the highest data requirements ever tested in the Propulsion Division.
