Last year, Curative Connections -- a Green Bay nonprofit offering support for families with loved ones experiencing dementia, memory loss, cognitive disabilities and brain injuries -- debuted a revolutionary concept in reminiscent memory care. Yesteryear Village is an interactive village at its westside location which features settings from the past, including a 1960s diner, an old-fashioned gas station and a train car, where program participants (referred to as “members”) can be immersed in a familiar atmosphere. Yesteryear Village offers care that aims to trigger memories from its members’ early years, reduce anxiety and encourage freedom of choice and social interaction. “In a space like this, there are multiple things going on without it being overwhelming,” President and CEO Jeanne Stangel says. “If today you’re just not into it and you want to go sit in the gas station and read a magazine, it gives you that independence to make your own decision in a safe space.” Read more in the April issue, available now: https://loom.ly/-XArxOk

  • Ask us about our socks! 🧦 Today, the Curative Connections team is rocking our boldest socks to spark conversations and raise awareness for Down Syndrome! This year's World Down Syndrome Day theme calls on governments to Improve Our Support Systems. Everyone needs support to live and be included in their community, and families need external support to assist their loved ones with Down Syndrome. A good support system includes human support, which helps with daily living tasks and promotes independence. At Curative Connections, our mission is to help people achieve their independence goals. Our life skills and training & employment programs take a person-centered approach to teaching life and job skills, empowering members to reach their personal goals. Join us in spreading the word and raising awareness! #CurativeConnections #WorldDownSyndromeDay #LotsOfSocks
