  • Meet Rose! Rose is a dedicated Behavioral Therapist in Crossroads Continuum’s Discover Early Learning Center. A true team player, she’s always willing to lend a hand and brings warmth and patience to every child she works with. Rose loves dogs and was the very first employee in the Discover Program when it opened in the fall of 2022! Let’s join Rose for a closer look at her "Day in the Life" at Crossroads Continuum! 🕒 MORNING ROUTINE: Rose starts her day with a walk with her adorable pups before grabbing her morning coffee and heading to work 🕒 PREP & PLANNING: Once at the center, Rose organizes the classroom, checks emails, and reviews the day’s schedule to ensure everything runs smoothly. 🕒 INDIVIDUAL WORK: Rose rotates through clients, providing one-on-one support. Today, one client practices handwriting and cutting along dotted lines with scissors. 🕒 CRAFT TIME: Spring is here! The clients created beautiful butterflies as they explored different colors and worked on motor skills. 🕒 PLAYTIME BREAK: After individual work, it’s time for fun! One little reptile enthusiast enjoys playtime with his favorite toy alligators, lizards, and dinosaurs. 🕒 LUNCH BREAK: Rose takes a well-deserved break to recharge and enjoy her lunch. 🕒 MUSIC CIRCLE: It’s time for group fun! Rose joins in on music circle time, wearing her trusty backpack filled with safety gear and snacks—always prepared for anything! 🕒 LEARNING CONTINUES: More individual work includes working with a client on a sequencing activity which helps to develop critical thinking and pattern recognition. 🕒 WRAPPING UP: At the end of the day, Rose helps tidy the classroom, picking up toys and preparing for another day tomorrow. Thanks for spending the day with Rose and seeing the love and care she brings to Crossroads Continuum every day!

  • Meet Henry! Henry is 17 and has been at Crossroads since he was 6 years old. He is currently a student in our day school and also receives support at home through our Elevate Family Services program. Henry loves Boston College (his dad’s alma mater) and also cheers for Providence College (his mom’s alma mater and where his older brother is currently a student). He loves surfing, snowboarding, chocolate milk, and his dog, Bailey. Henry is a problem solver and works hard to find solutions to problems and to overcome challenges as he learns new things. Henry has Profound Autism and is also Deaf, so our staff help him communicate using an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device as well as sign language. Let’s join Henry for a closer look at a “Day in the Life” at Crossroads Continuum! 🕖 BREAKFAST: It’s breakfast time! Henry starts the day at home with a hearty breakfast. 🕖 JOURNEY TO CROSSROADS: After breakfast, Henry makes the journey to Crossroads where one of his teachers will be ready to welcome him as soon as he arrives. 🕘 MORNING MEETING: Henry is in our Hampden Road Classroom, and they start every day with Morning Meeting – a time to discuss the day’s schedule, take a look at the weather, and learn fun facts for the day! Today was about computer science! 🕙 LEARNING ACTIVITY: All of our students receive personalized support that is tailored to their needs. Today, Henry was working on discrimination training to help learn when it is appropriate to engage in motor stereotypy. 🕚 TRADE-IN TIME! After work sessions, students are able to choose a preferred activity. Henry is a fan of all things that spin and he chose his tree trunk toy. 🕛 SNACK BREAK: Time for a snack break! Who doesn't love chocolate milk? Henry does and made himself a glass of chocolate milk. 🕒 AFTER SCHOOL CHORES: After school, Henry heads home and a staff member from our Elevate Family Services team works with him, and his family, to ensure he builds independence and works on life skills. Today, Henry and his at home behavioral therapist (BT), Meghan, work together on daily living skills, like cleaning. His dad joins him to work on making his bed, another important life skill. 🕔 COMMUNICATION IS KEY! Henry and his BT spent some time exploring his AAC device, building important communication skills that are used both at home and school. 🕔 COMMUNITY OUTING: Elevate staff members also provide support and guidance to help clients and families engage in their community. Community outings build confidence and independence and Henry, and his family, enjoy practicing shopping skills at Nasiff Marketplace in Mansfield. Thanks for spending the day with Henry and taking a closer look at all that happens at Crossroads Continuum! #Dayinthelife #CrossroadsSchool #CrossroadsFamilyServices #CrossroadsHomeServices #CrossroadsElevate #Autism #ProfoundAutism #CommunityOuting
