Just announced: the Museum has named the galleries housing its permanent exhibition "Sing Me Back Home: Folk Roots to the Present" in honor of Judy and Steve Turner. The naming of “The Judy and Steve Turner Galleries” serves to recognize the Turner family’s leadership and support, as well as commemorate Steve Turner's longtime commitment to the preservation and growth of the Museum’s permanent collection. Additionally, with a gift from the James Stephen Turner Family Foundation, the Museum is launching a preservation fundraising campaign, which will continue to underwrite the intensive, multi-year work of processing and cataloging the Museum’s archives, rehousing and shelving, digitizing rare manuscripts and correspondence, and more. “Sing Me Back Home” rotates artifacts regularly to tell the evolving story of country music, from its pre-commercial roots to some of today's most accomplished artists. The exhibit helps showcase the Museum's unrivaled collection of country music artifacts. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e4cZQhji

This weekend, the Museum hosted two programs in support of the exhibition "Luke Combs: The Man I Am"—a performance and conversation with Luke Combs’s band, the Wild Cards, and an interview with his manager, Chris Kappy. Hosted by the Museum’s Dave Paulson, members of the Wild Cards—Jamie Davis, Korey Hunt, Tyler King, Mat Maxwell, Dustin Nunley, Kurt Ozan, and Jake Sommers—shared songs and stories from their decade-long journey with Combs. The Museum’s Angela Stefano Zimmer led a discussion with Chris Kappy about his path to the music industry and Nashville, his work as a manager, and how he’s helped Combs build his career. Yesterday, the Museum hosted an interview and brief performance with Luke Combs as part of the Museum’s All Access program for students. Combs shared his experiences and career lessons with nearly 600 local seventh through twelfth graders in the Museum’s CMA Theater. Moderated by Museum Writer-Editor Dave Paulson, the interview traced Combs’s blue-collar North Carolina roots to his place at the top of the county charts, including his middle and high school experiences, his musical influences, his discovery in college that a career in music was his goal, and his thoughts about themes from his latest album "Fathers & Sons." Combs also performed two songs during the program — “Fast Car” and “When it Rains it Pours.” The Museum’s All Access program connects students with country music’s creative and entertainment communities and illuminates the history and culture presented in the Museum galleries. The program, which was free to Metro Nashville Public Schools, was presented in support of the exhibition "Luke Combs: The Man I Am," open now through June 29.
