We're nearly there! 97% of all SWOF-enrolled fields have been visited for verification, with just a few snowy northern fields left to go. This week’s #fridayfieldphotos highlight great work from our enrolled farmers in Minnesota, Georgia, and our friends at the New York Outcomes Fund! Here our farmers are utilizing several forms of reduced tillage and cover crops, including wheat, cereal rye, and sudangrass. In-person field visits are a critical part of our compliance process, ensuring accuracy and trust in the environmental outcomes we deliver to our partners. . 🐻🌎 I attended the 15 year celebration of the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability !! the Atkinson Center brings together multi-disciplinary teams (ie scientists, economists, engineers, policy, industry, nonprofits), to solve complex multi-disciplinary problems in sustainability (ie energy, food, climate, one health!) for example, one project recycles batteries to reduce the harmful battery waste in landfills (partnering up a biology lab in CALS, with an battery lab in Engineering, and a battery recycling company in Ithaca)!! they came up with a new microbe that can digest the batteries and make it reusable for new batteries, in a profitable way!! (and there's hundreds of these projects, in all kinds of areas!! if you're in industry or nonprofit, please reach out to Patrick Beary to partner!!) it was held in the brand new Atkinson building!! (next to the Dairy Bar and Botanic Gardens!!)! I was so impressed by the natural design of the building (carpets look like moss on top of stone, the walls and ceiling look like trees, the windows look like rainwater, there's even a wetland in the backyard!) congrats to Atkinson Center director's David M. Lodge on his retirement, he delivered a wonderful lecture on Research Funding, from the inception of the National Science Foundation in 1940s to today! It's important that research continues to get funded, so that it could lead to more real world impact! I'll be on Cornell Campus today 4/11, I really hope to see you! my Google maps location is in the comments, text me 202-415-5342 when you are close by, and I will come meet you!! here's my schedule for today: - Entrepreneurship Celebration, Statler, 9am-5pm - Cornell Business Impact Symposium, Statler, 3pm-8pm - walk around Central Campus and North Campus, 8pm-11pm
