Strengthening the Voice of Small Tea Growers across India! We are pleased to announce that a national level core committee meeting with the key representatives from #CISTA, #ITA & #TAI was held on 11th February 2025 at Taj Bengal, Kolkata. This significant gathering brought together stakeholders from the organized tea sector and small tea growers across India to address the key challenges and explore solutions for a sustainable future in the tea industry. Key Concern Raised: Price distortion under the current Price Sharing Formula (PSF), which fails to compensate small-scale tea growers for their production costs. Representatives from Small Tea Growers’ Associations unanimously called for a fair and transparent pricing mechanism, one that ensures a reasonable margin and accurately reflects the actual cost of production. This marks a crucial step toward securing the future of Small Tea Growers and fostering a thriving, equitable and sustainable tea industry. #CISTA #SmallTeaGrowers #SustainableTea #FairPricing #TeaIndustry #EmpoweringGrowers #TeaEconomy #SafeTea

Strengthening the Roots! Do you know that small tea growers (STGs) in India form the backbone of the country's tea industry by contributing nearly 52% of the nation’s total tea production? STGs are spread across regions such as Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, these growers typically cultivate tea on small, often family-owned plots of land. Despite their significant contributions, STGs face numerous challenges, including fluctuating market prices, limited access to quality inputs and inadequate infrastructure to cope with changing climate conditions. We at the Confederation of Indian Small Tea Growers Associations (CISTA), are committed to empowering these small scale farmers across India by promoting sustainable practices, implementing quality improvement programs and ensuring equitable market access. Our efforts are aimed at securing a prosperous future for small-scale growers while providing society with 100% safe, high-quality tea. #CISTA #STG #SafeTea #Quality_Improvement #Sustainability #FPO #Zerochemicalfarming #localempowerment
