Compass' mission is to engage, empower and enrich the lives of LGBTQ+ people and those living with HIV/AIDS.

About us

Founded in 1988, Compass continues being a leader in HIV prevention and an organizer of information and referral services for gays and lesbians who needed assistance as they navigate toward empowered, healthy, productive lives. Compass remains the sole provider of crisis and care services for people living with HIV for the Palm Beach Department of Health, has HIV case management services to connect newly-diagnosed people to care, and continues its tradition as an expert in HIV prevention activities. In 1999, with the help of a generous contribution from Ken Adams, Compass set an ambitious goal – to make all of Palm Beach County a safe place for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. Compass created one of the largest outreach events of its kind in Florida’s history, PrideFest of the Palm Beaches. Then, to connect local residents to their elected officials, Compass created the Stonewall Ball, along with the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council, so that our unique and diverse voices would be heard and understood by those with the responsibility to lead us. Compass accomplishes its mission each day by emboldening our youth, promoting pride in our community, and acting as an educator, advocate, health service provider, and focal point for community organizing. As good neighbors, effective partners, and respected participants in our civic responsibilities, Compass promotes awareness of the caring nature of our diverse community, and continues to make history doing so.

  • PROMISE Story: Lessons in Love and Protection In our latest PROMISE story, Marco, a gay Latino living in West Palm Beach, reflects on how a conversation with his best friend Luis, who is HIV-positive, changed his outlook on self-protection. Luis shared how his life could have been different if he had used protection in the past. This powerful moment led Marco to visit Compass LGBTQ+ Community Center, where he learned that self-care involves both love and protection—and that condoms are available for free. Marco's journey is a vital reminder for all of us: protecting yourself is an act of self-love. Compass is proud to provide resources like free condoms and support for our community. Let’s keep working together to promote health and safety for everyone. #PROMISEStory #LGBTQ #HIVPrevention #SelfCare #LoveAndProtection #CompassLGBTQ #CommunitySupport #HealthAndWellness #FreeCondoms 📍Compass Community Center

  • 🏳️⚧️✨ Happy Trans Day of Visibility! ✨🏳️⚧️ Yesterday, we had the incredible honor of watching @TranspireHelp lead the Palm Beach Pride Parade as our Grand Marshal—a moment of strength, resilience, and joy for our trans community. 💙💗🤍 Today, on Trans Day of Visibility, we celebrate the beauty and power of trans lives. 💙💗🤍 In the video, community members share the messages they wish they could have told their younger selves—words of love, courage, and hope that echo beyond time. These words are more than reflections; they are beacons of hope for every trans person who has ever questioned, struggled, or felt unseen. You are loved. You are powerful. You are exactly who you are meant to be. 🎥 Watch, listen, and let their voices remind us all: visibility saves lives. #TDOV #TransDayOfVisibility #PalmBeachPride #Transpire #YouAreSeen #CompassCommunity
