San Francisco is in the midst of a housing crisis, and for women—especially those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, or systemic barriers—the challenges are even greater. Join the SF Women’s Housing Coalition on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11:30 AM at San Francisco City Hall to take a stand for affordable, accessible, and safe housing for women. Attendees can expect to hear firsthand accounts from women impacted by the housing crisis, as well as calls to action from a powerful lineup of leaders, including Community Forward's Co-CEO, and Emeritus of The WHC, Sammie Rayner. We urge everyone to show up, lend their voices, and be part of the movement to create real, lasting change. When we rally together, we make an impact. Will you be there? #WomensHousingCoalition #HousingJustice #Equality #SanFrancisco

About us
Our Mission Community Forward helps the most vulnerable individuals of SF get off the street, find comprehensive services, and achieve stability so they may thrive. Our Vision We envision a San Francisco where every life counts. Everyone who has lost the ability to care for themselves will be given the support they need to gain control of their own lives. There will be no homelessness on the street, those with illness and addiction will be cared for, and everyone will be supported along a path toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency. Community Forward SF is a collection of vital programs that insures our neighbors experiencing homelessness have effective services designed for their unique needs. Whether one needs housing, medical shelter, a safe place to become sober, or calm in the face of domestic violence - we care for those most vulnerable in our community. We are not just one program. We are a network of programs designed to work together to meet every stage of need. We have been serving San Francisco since 1978. In that time, we’ve seen our city change drastically, and continually evolve our services to meet new needs. We serve more than 6,000 San Franciscans experiencing homelessness every year. More than 80% of our clients are women. We’re the city’s leading agency addressing the unique needs of women and trans women.

"At a time when the rights of women and transgender individuals are under attack, expanding housing options for these communities is more critical than ever," says Sammie Rayner, Co-CEO of Community Forward. With 40 individuals already connected to housing and more on the way, we're making real progress, one home at a time. It's hard to know what to do in a world that almost feels like an Octavia Butler novel. Having spent the last five and a half years working on the frontlines of the homelessness and housing crisis in San Francisco, I relate to feeling some doom, gloom, and fear, but I’m writing today to encourage us to hold space for hope. Right now, it is crucial that our community continues to be bold, strong, and most importantly, together. Join me in taking small, impactful actions each week to make a difference. I can't help how you might feel after reading the morning headlines, but I promise that by staying connected to your community, you'll start to feel better.
