CIG is working with the Colorado Department of Transportation to help people better navigate the I-70 Mountain Corridor this summer. With construction projects along I-70 near Idaho Springs and on West Vail Pass, drivers can be a little savvier by signing up for text alert notifications to plan their travels around traffic stops planned on both projects this summer. Sign up for notifications on the Floyd Hill Project by texting floydhill to 21000 and notifications on the West Vail Pass Project by texting vailpass to 21000. Alerts to sudden closures of the I-70 Mountain Express Lane are also available by texting xpresslanes to 21000. Meet Aubrey Cox, our newest specialist! A DU grad from North Carolina, Aubrey studied journalism with a minor in leadership. He enjoys the outdoors, reading and playing bluegrass music. Aubrey’s favorite part about CIG so far is the culture and the opportunity to work alongside such skilled communicators (we didn’t even make him say that). He’s excited to dive into the details of infrastructure and enhance his ability to communicate complex information to the public.

This #DistractedDrivingAwarenessMonth, we're asking you to put down the damn phone! As of Jan. 1, it's illegal to use a cellphone while driving in CO unless you’re using a hands-free accessory. Yes, even at stoplights. CIG is proud to support Colorado Department of Transportation ""Heads Up, Phones Down"" campaign to spread the word. #HandsFreeCO

We’re excited to share another successful project completed for CIG and our client, Otak! Reflecting on a project from start to finish is always a highlight in public information. A big thank you to our in-house drone pilot, Eric, for capturing footage throughout construction to create this project completion video. This January, the City of Lafayette, in partnership with the Town of Erie and CDOT, successfully completed the State Highway 7 and 119th Street Intersection Improvement project. 👏

Nothing says community engagement like spending the day with a modest crowd of 400,000 ☘️ A few lucky CIGers got to walk in Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on behalf of CDOT. Our feet were sore, but our buckets were full after handing out discounted Uber rides, codes for hands-free cellphone mounts and discounts on new tires to Paddy’s Day partiers! Thanks to our partners, AAA, OtterBox and Gills Point S Tire & Auto Service, for bringing the charm and helping to keep Colorado roads safe.

Yoga > Meetings. We took a breather from our regularly scheduled staff meeting for a team yoga session. (One benefit of having a certified yoga instructor on staff 🧘🏻♀️) We stretched. We posed. Some of us mostly Shavasana’d. It was the perfect way to practice our 2025 word of the year, 'steady,' while recharging together as a team!

Another incredible Lifesavers Conference on Roadway Safety in the books! Our team joined the nation’s largest gathering of roadway safety professionals in Long Beach, CA, where we gained valuable insights into successful communication strategies, learned from the innovative efforts of agencies across the U.S. and brought home fresh ideas to continue our mission of making Colorado’s roads safer for everyone. #Lifesavers2025

CIG has spent years helping keep the public informed about major I-70 infrastructure projects — from Central 70 and Floyd Hill to the Mountain Express Lanes and Twin Tunnels. Now, we’re excited to support the I-70 Picadilly Interchange project in Aurora, where big improvements are well underway! This project is constructing a new diverging diamond interchange on I-70 at Picadilly Road in Aurora to make traffic flow smoother and safer. Once finished, it will ease congestion, improve connections for Aurora, and make travel safer and more accessible with better signals, improved lighting and new bike and pedestrian paths. Check out AuroraGov.org/I70Picadilly to learn more!
