3/25/25 Hey LinkedIn Family - This memory popped up on my feed…I got inspired…and so here we are 😂 Five years ago, I accomplished something great with some of the greatest people I’ve ever met. The Information and Knowledge Strategy Program at Columbia University was “unreal” when my father, Joel Ruffin, Sr. first told me about it. Since then, he has graduated from the program, and on this day five years ago, I still think to myself, “Wow, this program was unreal.” Thank you for the Knowledge and Power that comes with it and for giving me the tools to wield and create responsibly with it. Further, as a Legacy of the program, thank you for allowing me to embark on the journey to become the man and human worthy of honoring the Legacy of the one and only Joel Ruffin, Sr. MS in Information & Knowledge Strategy (IKNS) Keep being brilliant and hope to see you all soon. This week, I attended the Columbia University AI Summit, where experts from diverse fields explored ethics, free will, policy, and the evolving role of AI. The summit sparked important discussions on AI’s societal impact and its potential as both a disruptor and a collaborator. I found the session on AI and Creativity interesting as it examined how AI is reshaping creative fields such as the arts, architecture, and design. The discussion emphasized that effectively integrating AI requires technical expertise and a deep understanding of its impact on human expression, ethics, and collaboration. A recurring theme throughout the summit was the importance of learning, collaboration, and growth. AI is not just a tool but an emerging collaborative force, challenging us to adapt and evolve alongside it. #ColumbiaAI

I’m pleased to announce my promotion to Senior Director at the Committee for Economic Development of The Conference Board. Over the last several years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the growth and success of an organization that plays a vital role in shaping policy and advancing solutions in the nation’s best interest. As a nonpartisan, business-led policy think tank, we’ve worked closely with our Trustees to provide trusted insights and informed recommendations to key stakeholders in Congress, the White House, and the broader Executive Branch. I’m grateful for the continued partnership of my colleagues (past and present) and the leadership of our Trustees, and I look forward to building on our success as we navigate the evolving challenges of a rapidly changing geoeconomic landscape. As part of an assignment for my digital transformation class in the MS in Information & Knowledge Strategy (IKNS) at Columbia University School of Professional Studies, I experimented with Google's Teachable Machine. If you are low on AI literacy or high on AI hesitancy, tinkering with this easy-to-use tool might be what you need to bridge the gap to better understanding. The brightest spot of this assignment was seeing my kids having a blast walking through it with me. AI doesn't have to be a scary mystery.
