On April 24th, we're teaming up with TechnologyAdvice to tips and best practices for financial institutions managing their data infrastructure while navigating a hybrid cloud world. Gartner predicts that 90% of organizations will adopt hybrid cloud deployments through 2027, with the public cloud services market growing 21.5% in 2025. Financial institutions face the challenge of managing vast amounts of data while ensuring compliance, security, and always-on availability. While traditional databases may struggle to meet this demand, hybrid, multi-region database deployments can provide the flexibility and resilience required in today's financial landscape. So join our experts and get ready to learn about: - Meeting regulatory requirements such as PCI-DSS, #GDPR, CCPA, and #DORA - Streamlining modernization goals and migrating your data with minimal downtime - Supporting global applications and improving performance while reducing operational costs - The successful models powering banking, payments, #trading and #IAM applications Interested in attending? Another year, another spaghetti chart. 🍝 Cockroach Labs has once again been featured in Gartner’s 2025 Database Management System (DBMS) Market Share Ranks, moving even further up in the overall rankings. The momentum around #CockroachDB and #distributedSQL is undeniable. Over the last year, Cockroach Labs has seen a 200% year-over-year increase in new customer lands and an 80% year-over-year surge in ARR, proving accelerating demand for distributed, cloud-native solutions. As enterprises exit the noodly legacy infrastructure landscape and transition towards resilient, modern architectures, CockroachDB is poised to be the go-to database for the next generation of applications. Special thanks to Robin Schumacher, Ph.D. for leading the research behind the DBMS Market Share Ranks and to Adam Ronthal for cooking this delicious batch of DBMS spaghetti.
In the immortal words of Alfred Lord Tennyson, "In the spring, a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love..." But a young (yes, I'm going with young here, dissenting opinions will not be considered, thank you very much)... data management analysts' fancy lightly turns to thoughts of... pasta! Yes, you heard right, it's spaghetti time... specifically, time for a big steaming bowl of DBMS spaghetti. There's still some work to do on our market analysis, but I'm pleased to be able to share the 2025 DBMS Spaghetti chart (covering data from 2024). Some things to keep in mind: - This is only a small part of our market analysis. The underlying data that this is based on will publish in coming weeks from my colleague Robin Schumacher, Ph.D.. - This is a stack ranking of REVENUE in the DBMS market. So pure-play open source products are not included outside of commercialization vendors. If you are looking for a popularity contest, there are many other sources for that. - This year's "Churn Index" sits at 49, down from last year's 71. As a reminder, the Churn Index is is calculated as a percentage of vendors that either gained or lost market position in the stack ranking. We further provide a positive and negative churn index for those who are interested. - The market, at least for the top 10 vendors by revenue, is settling. There has been no churn in the top 6 vendors for the last 3 years, and no churn for the top 10 vendors for the past 2 years. - We've initiated "named vendor" coverage for vector database vendors Pinecone and Weaviate reflecting the sustained and growing interest in data management in support of AI. -As always, pure-play cloud vendors are in light blue. if you are a Gartner client and would like to discuss the DBMS market dynamics in more detail, please feel free to set up an inquiry. And keep an eye out for the detailed analysis and market numbers which will publish in coming weeks. Special thanks to Robin Schumacher, Ph.D. and the quant team at Gartner for sourcing the numbers. #GartnerDA #DBMS #DataManagement #Database #Data
